Not really, Vancouver also wants Guentzel so there was probably a biding war for his rights. I don't think anyone else wanted Tanev the same amount and I'v (from a very unreliable source to be fair) that Tanev doesn't want to sign with the Leafs.

Stamkos has to be all but leaving TBL at this point. If Carolina couldn't work work out a deal rich enough for Guentzel, then he must carry a heavy price tag, and TBL already couldn't meet Stammers demands so they simply don't have enough cap left to keep him. The question is where does Stammer go? Nashville? Bruins? Flames?

I 100% agree with you on the Mark Stone point, however I disagree on the tax free states situation. The way I see it is that it is an incentive for teams in high-tax areas (like those in Canada) to reconsider their tax laws.

That why ROR got out of Toronto at his first opportunity.

He wants more than $9 million, so if Tampa gives him that, they will have less than $6 million to sign 3 more players (plus two at league min as healthy scratches). That's not a lot.

They gave up a real asset to potentially overspend on one player when they don't really have the cap space to do that. Dallas wins this trade.

The Toronto endorsement cheat doesnt work and isn't proportional to the amount saved in tax free states. You can also get endorsements in Florida. You can't get tax free in Canada.

It's no longer an anomaly. It's a pattern that tax free states make it further. You're being overly aggressive to try and use emotion to prove a point, but the facts are the facts man. Tax free states have a clear and objective competitive advantage. In what world can you sign a 1. Hart finalist (Kuch), 2. Venzna goalie, 3. rocket Richard winner (Stam), 4.Norris winner (hedman), and 5. Conn Smythe winner (point) for 48m. Thats comparable to the Leafs core 4, and your guys still make more money after taxes.

Stop being so biased and look at the facts
