Interesting
Not crapping, I actually had this same thought. Not sure how I feel about it quite yet but definitely interesting.
Edit: Leaning toward Avs keeping Girard, but I do like Necas...

I needed the Colorado second to make the offer sheet work. I don't think the Ducks should go after Compher. I think the trade is fair though, and perhaps they re-sign him. Again though, it was Anaheim or bust since I needed the Avs pick back.

As stated, it's mostly a gimmick post. I try to make fair offers even in the ones that are mostly a gag, but just lack the assets this time. The Ilyas part is legit, the Kaapos part is not realistic. Probably should have included that in the description.

But there’s a legit argument over who is better in the playoffs Beau or Girard. I don’t think you can evaluate what Beau has done in the regular season the past few years.
Trotz gets a lot of credit for the isles success. That being said he played Leo Komarov on the first line in a ****ing game 7. At a certain point I have to think the guy doing that is part of the problem.</div></div>
Trotz dragged down Beauvillier. That I agree with. Girard had to drag Jack Johnson around the ice this year, which brought him down as well. Neither player is at their point of strongest value.

Barry put Beauvillier on the 4th line then yelled at him for not scoring. I like Compher btw. I even like Girard. But asking for two guys who may be more valuable to the Habs next year along with a pick is kind of ridiculous imo.</div></div>
I like Beau. If the Isles want to sell low on him, which they shouldn't, I'd be in. I'm not trading Girard for him though. It doesn't make sense for the Avs.

I like Beauvillier and have never been a big Compher guy, but Compher just scored 6 more goals and had only one less point in five fewer games than Beau. The latter is signed longer, so I guess there's that, but the main point is that I don't think Beauvillier has as much value as many others here think.
Girard is the best player in the trade by a lot, he has the best contract by a lot, and he plays the most important position. Add that the difference between Beauvillier and Compher isn't as great as folks think means the pick is absolutely necessary. And I actually still doubt Colorado says yes here.
A good effort here though imo. It's at least in the neighborhood and elicits some thought.

It's not a great offer. For something like this to go down, it would have to be that Boston decides the cap space is more valuable than the player. They'd have to bring in someone else to pair with Swayman, but they could end up saving say 3M or so.

Money is about right imo, but I'd be shocked if he left Colorado. The Avs value him highly, and he is comfortable there from a personal standpoint, which is apparently very important to him. He looks good in the lineup though.

I hope so too. The Blackwood trade isn't my first choice. It's intriguing in the event he leaves though, as it's entirely possible playing behind a strong team benefits him. If not, then I guess Sakic is shopping for a goalie at the deadline.

Can't say I disagree. It was a tough trade to make with Colorado's lack of assets. Maybe if the Avs trade Compher and something else for a second and then move that pick to NJ. Idk.
I've seen rumors that NJ is down on Blackwood, so they might be more willing to move him than they arguably should be. Hence the post. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

Giving Paul $4M is a big mistake.</div></div>
Totally agree. I'd need to see a longer track record of success before I'm comfortable with that contract. Could end up being a costly mistake.
Holl is meh, but I'd potentially be ok depending on the price.

Yikes, that's a big overpay for Colorado. Also, I think you're giving too much money to both Nichushkin and Lehkonen.
Maybe just try getting Blackwood without the other players involved. I think it might work from a cap perspective.

I'm not opposed to Trocheck at all, but I think it may be tough to get him. I also wonder how much savings there would really be with him vs Kadri.
I think Manson would be a sacrifice if they signed Trocheck or another 2C. Not sure his salary would fit.

He had the habs curse this year (injured twice - once from a vicious elbow to the head... not much you can do to protect yourself from that), but he is otherwise a very serviceable Center.</div></div>
It's an option, but I don't think Sakic has or would offer what it would likely take to get him.

Option One - Kadri Still 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Funksoljah</b></div><div>Seems like you're cutting the cap awfully close while only carrying 1 extra roster player. Didn't Colorado generally run with at least 1 forward and 1 D in the press box during the season?
Also I would think one of Stastny's biggest assets is him being a center who can win face-offs in addition to his solid depth scoring. Seems wasted on the wing. I'm not a Colorado fan so i don't know their needs but just my observations.</div></div>
It's definitely cutting it close. And yes, they prefer a 22 man roster. MacDermid can play both positions though, which makes 21 more feasible.
In my head, Stastny still takes a lot of draws but also helps Newhook grow into the role of a middle six C. I think he'd be a great example for him. And it's also possible him and Newhook switch.
Appreciate the thoughts.

I really don't think Girard will be traded. Also, Nelson is not a typical target for Colorado. They go after guys that are underutilized and show upside (e.g., Burakovsky, Kadri, Nichushkin, Lehkonen, etc.). Nelson is 30, shot 20% last season, and scored half his points on the PP. Good player, but he doesn't seem to he the typical target for the Avs FO.

I hope the Avs can keep him too. The Isles are my #2 team, so I watch them a fair amount and was thrilled when that trade went down. Even I didn't think he'd be as good as he has been though. He's just so solid at everything and thinks the game at a high level. Sakic at his best with that acquisition.

Selling High Baybeeeeee
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>One thought I had to this though - wouldn't moving Girard's $5M make it much easier to keep Toews around? Byram goes RFA after next season, so you'll be able to lock in his number at whatever bridge or long-term deal you get him at. Plus Erik Johnson's deal falls off after next season; while you need to replace him, obviously, you're either going to be spending all of his $6M on a major upgrade(good problem) or you'll be bringing in a younger, more affordable guy. I think Toews signs for $8M max (Makar did them a favor by taking $9M and making an unofficial cap for the rest of the D corps) and with Girard's deal off the books you shouldn't have a terrible time signing him.</div></div>
They'll need to pay MacKinnon, Byram, and Newhook, with MacKinnon obviously being the big one (that's where the Erik Johnson money goes). I think Toews is going to be a luxury they likely can't afford once his current contract ends.
The team is also heavily built around quick transition, beginning with their defensemen, and Girard is a huge part of that. I believe they value him more than many others think they do. Just my opinion though, and I'm just some guy.

Poorly stated on my part. Didn't mean to imply he had bad metrics, but that it doesn't fit Colorado's typical MO. Their acquisitions are always guys that they view as underperforming based on such metrics (Burakovsky, Toews, Nichushkin, Lehkonen, Kadri). It's not typical they chase a guy who doesn't fit that criteria.

I don't think Colorado moves Girard. He is still only 24 and a very good player. They'll likely lose Toews after his contract and will need Girard and his reasonable AAV to keep their window open.
Additionally, Nelson will be 31 next year, is coming off an unsustainable year, and doesn't have the underlying metrics the Avs FO typically looks to. The trade makes some sense on the surface, but a deeper look makes me think it won't happen.

LA Kings Chychrun Nichushkin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tombot97</b></div><div>Agreed. Anyone who doesnt think we need a great LD this offseason probably over rates our UFA's or isn't aware we have the assets and cap space to make a splash for someone to be with us through the coming cup window. I am curious to see which top 6 wingers actually make it to free agency. Id pay Nichushkin up to 5.5AAV and have a 22 man roster to make it work. I also agree that Chychrun is going to be a bidding war and it will cost more get him. I just didn't want to here from other LA fans how much of an overpayment it would be. I would exchange the 2nd for a later pick, add anderson, and potentially switch the RD prospect besides Clarke. In terms of top-6 wingers who would you target with a 6 million AAV limit? I am not sure if a power forward penalty killer, or a sniper would work best with Kopitar and Kempe.</div></div>
Reilly Smith could be a decent fit. Palat maybe (although I bet Tampa finds a way to keep him). Burakovsky may very well be available too. Might have to shuffle the top 6 to find the right fits, but there are a few options.
I don't think Nichushkin hits the market. He had a rough go in Dallas but has seemingly found a comfort zone in Colorado. I'm gonna guess that is important to him and he stays. What do I know though, lol.
