Description
It's not fixed (or realistic) but eh I tried. Wanted to go a little out of the box because I feel like I see the same trades on here over and over again. This is just for fun, none of this will happen.

ANOTHER NOTE ON THE NJD TRADE: Boone Jenner has a lot of things that can help the devils...25 goal scorer, leader, faceoff king, net-front presence, goes to the though areas, hits, and he plays well with star players. May be overvaluing him a bit. But a ton of teams out there would overvalue a player that brings as much as he does.

  1. Norris, Joshua
Détails additionnels:
Norris has had a very hard time staying healthy and consistent. Ottawa might be looking to shake up the core a bit? (Not an expert on Ottawa)

  1. Bahl, Kevin
  2. Holtz, Alexander
  3. Palat, Ondrej
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (NJD)
Détails additionnels:
I'm aware this is insane and would never happen. But, the logic is Bean and Bahl are one for 1, Palat as a cap dump. which leave Elivs and Boone for Holtz and a 1st. Feel free to swap that 1st for a future 1st, I just went this this one
NJD
  1. Bean, Jake [Droits de RFA]
  2. Jenner, Boone
  3. Merzlikins, Elvis
Détails additionnels:
CBJ would select Demidov/Perekh with their first pick, and with this pick would take Helenius/Dickinson (None of them will make the roster this year so I didnt bother adding them)
3.
CBJ
  1. Honka, Anttoni
  2. Necas, Martin [Droits de RFA]
Détails additionnels:
Carolina has a ton of tough decisions to make this offseason and Necas has flown around the rumor mill. They are ultimately saving money in this deal. Not the perfect deal for Carolina, but they have a rough offseason ahead
CAR
  1. Provorov, Ivan (2 362 500 $ retained)
  2. Sillinger, Cole
Détails additionnels:
if anyone can get the best out of Provorov its Rod Brind'Amour and they get him for a year at 50%. Cole Sillinger was an 11th overall pick showing a ton pf promise and plays the style that Carolina loves, he has a lot more to be unlocked. ( Or I could just be spewing nonsense IDK)
4.
CBJ
  1. Mangiapane, Andrew
  2. Choix de 2e ronde en 2024 (DAL)
Détails additionnels:
Calgary gets some youth to fill some roster spots. The youth add to the "value" of Palat to get close to equal to Mangiapane who had a down year with a large contract.
CGY

  2. Palat, Ondrej
  3. Texier, Alexandre
  4. Choix de 2e ronde en 2026 (CBJ)

10th overall pick and Holtz is a lot for a 30 year old goalie who has been down right horrible and a 31 year old playoff ghost

I definitely think Ottawa tries to move on from Norris this summer, but adding a more expensive guy who is as bad or worse at staying healthy is definitely not the play

I kinda like it for Ottawa tho. its roughly 800k more but for significantly less term. I agree Laine is as injury prone as Norris is, if not more, but I think the contract balances out. I kinda like the thought of Laine playing with G and Timmy too

I've got no time for more lazy defensive players on the team.

I completely agree his laziness on the ice is a big red flag, but I think contract wise i'd rather pay 8.7mil till 2025-26 for Laine than 7.95mil till 2029-30 for Norris considering theyre both big question marks

Whoa! Lazy…Laine has actually gotten better defensively while in Columbus. The only reason to trade him is that he possibly wants to move on and he has had injury issues. But when he is healthy he has been decent defensively and pretty effective offensively.

I don’t. Norris was a 2 way centre pre injury: last thing they need is a worse version of Tarasenko who can’t play defence.

They need 2 way players not to spend money on more scoring

He's had exactly one good defensive season in his career, and been bad the rest of the way. Had a strong season last year. It's an outlier

Creative idea for Laine, but the biggest incentive for CBJ right now is they need Laine’s roster spot for a younger guy, and his timeline just doesn’t match where the team is considering his term. I’d rather move him for futures than another onerous contract, particularly since there isn’t any rush to move on from him.

As for the NJ trade - all the reasons you list why NJ should trade for Boone are all the reasons CBJ wouldn’t/shouldn’t trade him.

Yakupov is a former 1OA who had a lot of potential, and look at him now. Not saying that Sillinger is a bust yet, but if you are basing a players value on where they were drafted, then the Canes might as well try offering Kotkaniemi for someone like Bedard. Never going to happen, but there is a reason why the drafts are magic beans, and why we end up with players with careers like Yakupov compared to careers like Pavelski.

Yes, there are plenty of teams that would highly value what Jenner does. But none value him more than the Blue Jackets. That NJD trade is a non-starter for both sides - we don't want to sell him, and they wouldn't want to pay anywhere near what it would take to get him.

I completely agree and I love Josh, but just playing devils advocate, it does make sense. It would allow guys like Pinto and Greig to have a bigger roles on the team, and im not wishing ill on anyone but you never know how Norris will be after another surgery. Management could look at something like this as "cutting their loses" because if god forbid norris isnt the same, it would be one of the worst contracts in hockey

You're not wrong about the lack of fit, but also not being totally fair here about respective injury risk. Laine's injuries have all been one-off freak injuries to different parts of his body, two of them this season as a result of dirty hits by other players (Rasmus Andersson and William Lagesson... apparently Swedes hate him). Norris has had surgery on the same shoulder three times now. If one of them is a greater risk, it's the one with a chronic injury to the shoulder on his shooting side, and that's not Laine.

Well summarized.

His time in WPG was burdened by many team issues extending beyond him, and with that all in mind, you’re still talking about a guy who had been a .8 PPG guy on a series of ****ty CBJ teams.

Put him on a line with a Stutzle, or similar experienced high-end guy? Watch him take-off. CBJ traded for him in a desperation move to go on from Dubois, and even if he isn’t “The Guy” like we thought he’d be, he can still be a high-end contributor.

But as we’ve said…Laine is a trade candidate, but given all things, CBJ are in no need to sell low. Maybe he can be a high-end TDL guy in a year or two, but v easily pass on this for CBJ.
