no, we need prospects as much if not more than the habs do. Either that or we use the pick in a trade that can help us now, theres just no reason to trade it to move up 2 spots, that accomplishes nothing

that is a ton for the sens to move up 2 spots. We need a defenceman absolutely, but our prospect pool sucks too much to move from 5-7 at the expense of dropping from like mid 20 to mid 50 imo

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>herzausstein</b></div><div>I could see it working if they took McDonagh as a legit part of the payment and he was willing to go there. Maybe chychrun and Josi could pair up and chychrun long term replaces josi but outside of that? We have too much tied up in LHD at the moment and it isnt a place in dire need of an upgrade like other areas of the team.
Lauzon wont be traded either. Brings too much that management/coach likes in grit/hits especially to be traded out for a guy that doesnt hit at all.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Yeah, without McDonagh in NSH, it's more realistic for the Preds. It's hard to imagine him willing to be traded there though. Then when you think about how willing would OTT be to trade Chychrun for a more expensive, much older replacement, not to mention how do they make room for McDonagh's cap hit without a lot of other moves - I think it's too unrealistic for the Sens now.
Maybe the Devils would be interested in Chychrun? Their left side isn't the strongest.</div></div>
cheers fellas, enjoy the game tonight

Giving OTT a better player doesn't make it a better proposal for NSH.</div></div>
i think he could be fine on PP2, problem in ottawa is he wasnt even the PP2 handler he was a shooter this year. I think his 5 on 5 production could get back to a high level if he can play his strong side, and even though i’ve signed him in this acgm I think Carrier would be a really good partner for him.

His 4-way mobility is an issue now, and will be a bigger issue against NHL skaters. He also gets beat wide way too much. I won't suggest every prospect scouting guy dings his skating fairly hard, but many if not most do.</div></div>
it was an issue at the draft cycle but it’s not anymore, it’s been a major area of development for him. He will never be a + skater per se, but his mobility is more than passable for a player in his mould. Again he’s not a perfect prospect but I think he has upside in the right situation

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Okay, well the first thing isn't a need at all. In fact, it kinda gets in the way if he's what you say he is. The prospect is absolutely not A level. He's a poor skater, whose ceiling is maybe 2nd pairing, though even that seems rather optimistic. It's presumably not going to be enticing. The pick is potentially nice for trading up, but it's not high enough to cover for the issues of the other two. And since Joseph makes about half of what Buch currently makes, the Blues don't gain a difference making amount of cap space, either.</div></div>
Not that it’ll change anything because if he’s not a need than he’s not a need, but Kleven is a great skater for 6’4 200 lbs

I would partner Whitecloud with Chabot though as tyhey were absolutely dominant together at the WHC 2 seasons ago. Whitecloud would be the perfect (DeMelo) type partner for Chabot. I don't thgink Bjugstadt is needed, especially at $2M. With options like Kastelic, Ostapchuk, and Chartier (if retained) could all be as good or better than Bjugstadt at a much lower cap hit. I am hoping Staios chases Cal Clutterbuck hard as a UFA this offseason. I think he'd be perfect for the 4th line and is amazing killing penalties, something we desperately need. But overall I like your moves :)</div></div>
it doesn’t have to be bjugstad specifically, i just wanted someone who could play 3c in the event norris goes down again

Might be tough to make work with no futures involved. I think the sens best bet for roster construction is to get futures in some capacity (either picks or young players) which they can either use or flip for other roster pieces. I wouldnt be super interested in any forwards outside of Smith or Bunting & same with defense other than POJ, but I think the most likely options (Smith and POJ) are less valuable than Chychrun so would need to be offset by a future of some value. Bunting might be closer to a 1 for 1 swap depending on what the chychrun market looks like, but would still be a really tough pill to swallow if all we get for him long-term is 2 years of Bunting

While I do like Hague he is a LD , him playing 3rd pair would mean another year in Belleville for Kleven who I think will get a shot to make the team next year. + if you wanted salary on Chychrun retained that will cost more , say a 3rd or 4th pick.
Reilly is the type or ‘pro’ ottawa needs , he’s won a cup , has lots of post season experience , plays a 200ft game…. but no way I am paying a 3rd without 50% retention.</div></div>
is reilly smith really not worth a 3rd?
