Détails additionnels:
Canes opt to sign Guentzel - KK will be very tough to move and with the Jarvis breakout this could make the most sense to help with the Salary cap
CAR
  1. Allan, Nolan

  3. Choix de 2e ronde en 2026 (NYI)
Détails additionnels:
My fellow hawks fans won't be happy trading picks or young assets, but the way I see it is at some point you are okay to make a move for quality over quantity. Where that tampa pick is falling the chances of getting a player of this caliber is very slim. Necas is still young and can be in this top 6 for a decade

Hawks have a plethora of LD also, and can afford to move on from one - likely Allen or Kaiser

With $16M in cap space left I'd be ok with a 2 year $7M maybe even $8M per. Hawks have the cap space and cash. They've already proven they're willing to overpay in order to get term and a specific player that'll buy into the development of the kids as the longer term goal.

I'm open to the idea of at some point you make a quality vs quantity move. I get that part. Seems like a bit much for Necas. I don't dislike him at all. I guess I'd be hoping for something more efficient. Either a better RWer as a UFA or maybe Bowman's prospects like Colton Dach and Nolan Allan plus a 2nd. I just don't think KD is trading away 1sts at this point in time. He's still trying to get his picks/prospect developed/developing. In a summer or two...maybe I could see it then, but it just feels too early for this. Kyle's only had this job for 2 years 1 month and 15 days and Luke not even 2 years yet. I wouldn't rush the rebuild.

We’d want a top 6 forward and a low first or high second and thats not available on this team other than bedard but that will never happen

I disagree. CHI should not be in on Necas, imho. If you were talking about Jarvis, I would be far more interested.

I'd rather see Laine with 2 years left on the deal, and wouldn't cost as much in trade assets, and gives the Hawks the option of trading him at the deadline in 25/26 or resining him. Laine would light it up with Bedard.

I mean Nazar wouldn't be of interest to the Canes... he projects as a bottom-six guy and if the Hurricanes are gonna want prospects for Necas it's gonna be prospects with a top-6/top-4 ceiling... maybe not as highly touted but has that high ceiling

lol. Projects as a bottom 6 guy, according to whom? That isn't even remotely true. I think you are mixing him up with someone else.

I wish Laine well on his mental health journey. I'm not sure he's available in this current situation. Could we be the organization that brings him in and set him on the right path? IDK. It's a delicate balance. The media is all over you for your time in WPG, but then in CBJ you're getting benched by Torts for mouthing off to an assistant coach and then telling reporters your annoyed at your own coach (Larsen this time) about things in the past, but the coach has to answer those questions. So...when you (Laine) respond to the comments...yeah I didn't play well and that's it. The extra stuff just gets you in hot water. It's tough because Luke Richardson is going to say whether he thought someone had a good game or not. He'll give credit when it's due. He'll talk positively on efforts given. He's not going to make stuff up though. How will Laine handle that going forward. It's just a tough situation. I hope part of his journey goes through accountability and control. He can't control random podcasts talking very badly about him. He can control not listening to people/things that don't matter. When he responds to that...he's giving that podcast power. I just wish him well in the end.

The Pro-Hockey Group projects him as a third liner

He was barely at a PPG at Michigan... that doesn't exactly scream top-6

That's your first problem. The Pro-Hockey Group and the Capfriendly scouting tool in general are not worth anyones time, if I'm being totally honest. It is full of hobbyists who mostly don't know what they are talking about. Anyone who does know what they are talking about wouldn't say that about Nazar. Third line floor? Maybe. No one is ever a sure thing, but he solidly projects as a top 6 forward as much as anyone.

That's a totally fair gripe with that and prospect evaluations aren't my thing.
This is a completely honest question... How do you see somebody who wasn't able to muster more than PPG in college as more than a middle-six guy at the next level?

Canes fans can get ready for disappointment. They can want Nazar all day long, doesn’t mean they would get him.
Bottom line is Davidson is not forking that much to another team for anyone right now, he’s sticking to his game plan of rebuilding through the draft.

Alright, so, most college players don't surpass a ppg, and most that do are either elite, riding the coattails of an elite player, or have really good chemistry with someone else and have been playing in college for 3+ years. While Brindley and McGroarty had all of last year to build chemistry, and played together almost exclusively this year (when healthy), Nazar put up just under a point per game mostly while running his own line being the sole chance creator with a rotating cast of linemates, coming off a major hip surgery and a whole year of lost development. Also, you could just watch him and the things he does, and how obvious it was that most of the other guys in Michigan just weren't on his level of IQ, vision, anticipation, and work ethic. Not to say that they weren't a pretty hard working team, but if you watch enough games you can see how often he would create these plays with no one there or ready to capitalize, or how often he would be in the most optimal positions and his teammates wouldn't even see him because they just weren't processing optimally or aware of their surroundings. He is an amazing skater, a great passer, playmaker, and shooter, dominates at the dot. And that is all just the offensive zone. On the defensive side, he takes responsibility and works hard in his own zone, he kills penalties, vocally dictates positioning on the ice, efficiently shuts down his marks, even those much bigger than him, isn't afraid to be physical and, for a small guy, is actually REALLY good at making and absorbing hits. Exudes confidence. And all of that has already shown in just his first two games in the NHL. The kid is gonna be a stud, an important part of the team, and a fan favorite, whether it is on the first, second, or third line.
