Jordan Harris is not a big enough difference maker to go from 3-7 to 24+. I also can't see a cap strapped Minnesota team trading a very good forward on an ELC, unless a similar player is coming back.

Neither trade makes sense.

Columbus says no to a late pick and Harris for a top 10 pick really easily rejects

And then turning around and giving up all that for Rossi? If you win a trade like that with Columbus you don't waste it on that return

So what is Harris' value? He is worth more than a 2nd round pick. It's tough to say where in the 1st. But let's say he's worth a 20th overall pick. I thought 2 x 20 overall picks is worth 3-7 overall in this draft. Maybe I overvalued that.

He's 23 years old and played over 100 NHL games. He's a former 3d round pick himself. Considering a 2d round pick has a 30% chance to be an NHL payer, your argument is nonsense.

Just because he played games doesn't give him more value. His play dictates his value and his play is shown to be a 4-6 dman and nothing more, that means he isn't worth a 1st

Particularly in this draft, I do not think that two 20th overalls are worth 3-7. Blue Jackets fans feel free to correct me, but I think they need high end prospects more than a quantity of prospects.

what???????

my argument is nonsense?

soo, would you trade a first round pick for conor Dewar, who is also 23 and played over 100 games and was drafted in the third round, same year as harris?

Hint : he was traded for a 4th round pick.

I will probably be the kindest in telling you Columbus politely declines while wondering if you're okay.

You want Rossi, you trade your own top ten pick for him. Period. This offer to acquire someone else's is downright insulting.

We might be able to bump up a spot or two by attaching Harris to our 2024 1st but this is a massive stretch to think CBJ would even consider.

IMO, MN would accept that or a similar (possibly even less valued) package. I actually think Rossi will be shopped this summer, but that's total speculation so take it with a grain of salt. I'm not sure it will take a ransom type package - I could see Guerin looking for a "fair" deal.

I could see Columbus considering trading their own pick for Rossi. But the Habs don't come close to being a middleman there.

Yeah I'm just commenting from MNs standpoint. If CBJ offered up their own 1st, I think MN would strongly consider it. Would just come down to what Guerin truly wants, which none of us know, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

If the defining feature to a player being X value is how many games they've played, JJ Moser would be worth the first overall pick this year.

Harris playing 100 games does not make his value equal to a 1st rounder. its what he's done in those games that would dictate that and his 100 games do not dictate that. Like at all.

WPG 1st + Harris might get you a 3-6 spots higher in the draft than the WPG pick assuming its anywhere between 26-32. Thinking it gets you top 10 is nonsensical. Not even if you had two top 20 picks would that move you into 3-7 range.

The difference between a late 1st and a 2nd rounder really isn't much in terms of quality of player available/likelihood of being an NHLer. I think it's less about worth and more about target. Even if he's worth the 20th OA pick, Columbus is set on D long-term as long as Mateychuk and Jiricek somewhat pan out (Werenski, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Severson, with Gudbranson, Bean, Boqvist, and other longer-shot prospects filling the gaps). We need quality over quantity, so there's 0% chance we're trading a top-7 pick this year and a shot at an elite player unless there's an established or elite potential player coming back.

Harris is very much at risk of being placed on waivers next year
