Petey decides he wants OUT Summer 2024

Créé par: Turkish_Canuck

Description
I still think Petey is one of the most underrated players in the league, because of how good he is defensively. He scored 102 points last season (39 goals) and is on for 45 goals, 107 points this season.

I think the trade is incredibly fair - there is NO scenario where the Canucks come off better having traded Petey, as Calgary have proved with the M Tkachuk trade. The trade only becomes necessary IF in this hypothetical scenario - Petey wants out!

Why would Petey want out of Vancouver?

This is the best team he's ever played for. 🤔

If he thinks he's gonna have a better chance to win in Ottawa, in the stacked Atlantic division, he hasn't been paying attention.

That's not the point, this is if the Canucks get wind that Petey doesn't want to re-sign beyond 2025 (when he becomes a UFA). The Canucks at that point should take the best offer for him, regardless of where he wants to play.

Sure, but do you think Ottawa trades for Pettersson without him committing long term? Why would Pettersson extend in Ottawa but not Vancouver?

Either way, Petey is Elite but not worth THAT much more than Tkachuk. Would much rather keep all of those in Ottawa. The only base that would make sense for either team would be Stützle but again would require Petey to extend long term in Ottawa which will never happen

Brady needs to prove he can be as effective as Matthew. So far he's Great, but not Elite

No. Brady at $8.2m vs the $12.5m Pettersson is going to cost is debatable. Throwing all that other stuff on top is asinine.

Brady doesn't need to prove anything. He's a different player than Matthew.

He's also already one of the best power forwards in the league and will be making about $3-4M less than Pettersson for the next 4+ years. That makes their value very close, nothing more than a pick would need to be added to make it fair.

But nonetheless this ain't happening cause Brady isn't going anywhere and Petey isn't signing in Ottawa.

Hawks decline. If they are acquiring a guy in a hockey trade, it's to get a RW to play w/ Bedard. Mikheyev is not that guy.

Alright. Brady where he's at is a nice part of a package but Brady + a 1st is not enough to get Petey. Petey is elite and Brady is not.

No thanks on Boeser, I think it would be too dangerous of a trade for the Wild.

I think he is a prime fall-back-down-to-earth candidate whether this season or next, especially if he switches teams off of the high-flying Canucks. I'd rather the Wild see what they have with Khusnutdinov (sounds like perhaps later this season). Plus they would have to pay Boeser in a couple years when they already have to pay Faber, Rossi, and Wallstedt that same summer, and then Kaprizov again the year after.

Petersson is like 2 standard deviations of player better than tkachuk

Fan of neither team. Would much rather have Tkachuk at his price tag and all the other pieces than Pettersson at $12-13M per though.

I'm fine with Stutzle, Pinto, Greig, Norris, Jarventie and Ostapchuk as the list of centers for Ottawa

This is not a position they need to add, like LHD

They need to add some badly behind Zub and replace Tarasenko and Kubalik by forwards in the Joseph or Greig mold

And as good as Pettersson is, I would not add Pinto and Kleven on top of Tkachuk to get him (AAVs matters too)

Yeah Brady is definitely a great player, but I’d say he’s a little overrated because of his last name

Not sure how he's overrated at all, he pushes unicorn status. How many power forwards become a point per game player by 23? Matthew Tkachuk? Jamie Benn? There's not many. Mark Stone even took a while.

Pettersson is without a doubt on another level but will also cost 50% more which isn't nothing.
