Not sure how Liljegren would get an expanded role in Columbus. If anything he'd be in the same position Peeke is in now which would make trading a 1st for him incredibly unwise.

That is insane. We’d rather waive peeke than tack a first ontop of him in the middle of a retool.
We are also trying to clear a logjam at right defender not add another one.
This is extremely counter productive for Columbus.

andrew peeke is out of the lineup because the jackets have other RHD (severson, jiricek, boqvist, gudbranson) who have jumped him in the pecking order.

as such, the jackets have zero reason to trade him for another RHD, especially not if they are also (apparently) giving up a first round pick lol. he's either getting moved for a forward on a similar (or, ideally, shorter) contract, or for picks.

There is no way you really think that the Jackets are giving up a first round pick to get another RD that won't see the ice.

I always wonder how fans of small market teams (no offense) can’t seem to grasp how large the maple leafs fan base is. It’s the most popular team in the league and on this site; so lots of perspectives and we don’t all agree on everything. I’m with you - this trade makes no sense for Blye Jackets & I have no interest in moving Liligren; he’s young, cost controlled and just about to enter his prime as 3rd pairing RHD with potential to play 2RHD 🤞
