Not for that joke of an offer does Huberdeau come home, Craig Conroy isn't eating $16,000,000 and taking on Josh Freaking Anderson in the deal.

Setting value aside, it's been reported that the Flames are trying to trade for players who would gel with Huberdeau and build around him not trade him.

Imagine you have two options:

1. Pay $7.5m a year for Josh Anderson
2. Pay $10.5m a year for Jonathan Huberdeau

Unless that $3m was the difference in keeping dominoes from falling (Lindholm, Hainifin, Tanev, etc)…it’s hard to imagine anyone choosing #1. Now imagine the retention going the other way….

1. Pay $3.5m a year for Josh Anderson
2. Pay $10.5m a year for Jonathan Huberdeau

….maybe there is an argument to be made there.

Any posts suggesting the Flames retain on Huberdeau for the next 8yrs is just silly to me; he will eventually rebound

What kind of drugs are you MTL fans on lol. How could you even conceivably think that is a remotely fair offer?
Hubby's worst season is still better than anderson's best lol.
Maybe if MTL included slaf this could work. Otherwise Hughes number gets blocked for being such a moron

Yeah, because getting some to take that contract is just as plausible as Calgary retaining for 8 seasons.

It was more because they just made that huge investment, they aren't gonna want to admit they were wrong a year later. Imaging trading Tkachuk for Huberdeau and then signing that contract though and barely getting a 0.5 ppg out of it when they could have just resigned Tkachuk for 1 mil less and getting double the ppg and look where that GM ended up and how his new team is doing this year!

YeahI agree. Now it was Treliving signed Huberdeau and Conroy was the assistant GM. But since just about the entire hockey world sees that as a bad signing I think if given a chance Conroy would move him. Especially if they are going in to a full rebuild.
