Zero chance Calgary trades Anderson who is a top RD (our best d at that) for another Tkachuk scenario. I would say Weegar and Mangiapane....perhaps.
Also, why wouldn't you put Anderson with Chabot? That's a stud d pairing right there.

Not one player in the Flames system since 2010 that went on to have a reputable NHL career left because they weren't getting elevated in a time frame the fans saw as applicable. Fans wanted Parsons rushed up, they wanted Gilles in, Jankowski, Emile Poirier, Klimchuk, etc. etc. etc. I get that Pelletier is a higher calibre prospect that those guys and he will be a piece in the Flames line up for years to come but there is so much more going on internally than any of us imagine.
That would be a silly guarantee to make.</div></div>
I think we have different concepts of "rushing". Mackey is 25 and has just played in the NHL. Philips will walk as a UFA and get playing time elsewhere. Valimaki was lost on waivers but is doing well in Arizona, considering the team quality. call ups should be dependent upon their play in the AHL or farm system. This sends a message to other kids we draft that they won't get their shot in Calgary. That's especially worriesome for NCAA picks. We also had very poor drafting until BT came to Calgary (except Feaster getting Gudreau). I would say that Goalies are different: they take longer to develop. I wouldn't want Wolf called up. Pelletier has had 5 years to develop, but is still eating snacks I the stands. What's the point? He will take a QO and walk as well.

While he is being a "short term solution" our leading AHL scorers are sitting in the stands. What's the point in having a draft and farm team if you never let them play? Very few players will be amazing their first NHl game. At some point, we are just developing players to sign as free agents elsewhere.
Vladar has played better than markstrom. His numbers show it. Similarly, Pelletier and Philips have played better than Lucic, yet have not been given any chance. Guaranteed nobody on the wranglers wants to sign as a UFA in Calgary.

Will the contact be terrible in 4 years? Probably. However, huberdeau is at a disadvantage this year with Sutter. He constantly shuffles lines and hasn't given anyone a chance to develop chemistry. Sutter's system punishes talented players and lifts less talented players. Calgary either needs a roster change or a coach change to get any meaningful scoring out of this team. Also, Anderson is a garbage contract. They guy has never cracked 50pts, is on the wrong side of 28 and is still 5x5aav. Huby would put up far more points with Suzuki or caufeld than he would with Kadri and Lucic.

Markstrom consistently gives up a goal on the first 5 shots in the game. The team no longer plays with confidence in front of him. Vladar is posting better numbers this year: he should be starting every game until Markstrom can sort out the yips. Also, Lucic has 12pts this year (great for him) but not deserving of 2nd line status. This team finds ways to lose games. Sutter's defensive approach is great when you have the best line in hockey to win games for you. It's not great when you don't have elite scoring. Throwing tons of shots on net also turns over the puck. His system will only generate mediocre results unless the roster changes

Domi is the leading scorer on Chicago right now with a better +/- than Kane, Toews and jones. Also, you may have noticed that I signed a 45 year old Oli Jokinen...who isn't tough and who isn't defensively sound. (It's a joke because Sutter acquired him twice)

Wow. Someone sounds a little butt hurt about huberdeau not riding it out to free agency so he could come "home". This is why players don't want to sign in Montreal: the entitlement. It's not like Calgary fans are going to be pissed that Nylander or Makar won't come "home" to play for the Flames.

I doubt BT will be fired. He hasn't signed a new contract and I guarantee other teams will be trying to sign him (as per tsn). Edwards is foolish enough to sign Sutter as GM again, and drive this team into the ground for another decade. He was one of the worst GMs we ever had.

Sorry, but Sutter overvalues players he likes and undervalues better players who don't play his "style". Lucic scored tonight, so he will stay put. That guy is a cancer to our draft and development program. Who would want to sign in Calgary? You'll never get a chance to play if Sutter has hard nosed 4th liners to dress.

Lucic hasn't played his way off the second line yet, unfortunately, he and Kadri were good last night and I think that it will have to sour before it's changed, which at that point it will be one or two games past due. He hasn't played more than 30 seconds on the powerplay since November 17 where he played 42 seconds. Ruzicka has been where the puck goes to die on PP2 recently.</div></div>
Yep...not even in the line up. And started markstrom again who put up a goal on the second shot. Fsakes

Calgary Flames
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheSummerofGeorge</b></div><div>I think the impetus for making a Reinhart proposal here is that Frank Seravalli has reported that FLA might try to move either of Bennett or Reinhart to recoup some of the significant amount of draft capital they've given up recently. No one in Florida thought they would be struggling to make playoffs this year, but it also seems like in making the Matthew Tkachuk trade they recognized they would have less urgency to win right away and kind of reset their intended competitive window.
Reinhart only has one year remaining on his $6.5M contract after this season, and they only gave up the 2022 28th overall pick and Devon Levi to get him. So it's possible if they look like a non-playoff team come TDL, they might think he's more valuable as a trade chip than as a guy who would be a pending UFA next year.
All that said, I still don't think they move him. Not many teams have the ability to add $6.5M right now, and I imagine FLA has no desire to retain any money. The teams that can afford him aren't going to be the ones giving up their early draft picks.
Also think Calgary is going to have to give up the 2023 1st. Their hands are pretty much tied on moving the 2024 1st or FLAs 2025 1st right now given the absurd laundry list of conditions currently attached to those picks.</div></div>
I dunno, it would seem difficult to replace Reinhart at 2C. Lindell seems like a 3C. Then again, I haven't looked at the FA market for next year. Although, the biggest mistakes are made July 1st. Signing anyone over 28 to a long-term deal is foolish. The contracts end poorly (as Calgary will find out). Calgary isn't close to contention IMO and they need a solid pick in this draft to restock the cupboards. My guess is that prices will be lower than anticipated this TD day. As you said, the cap is tight and could be only increasing by 1MM next year

Not sure why Calgary would pay more for Olafson, when Dube is younger and producing at the same clip. Giving up Kylington for a bottom 9 forward is also a head scratcher. Calgary cannot take on more salary without some going out, so there is little value there.

If Sutter was GM, I'm sure he would throw in a 1st for kerfoot as well. However, By is still at the helm for now, and I don't see them giving up futures for another mid tier winger, which they have plenty of right now. It would be sad if they did.

Dube and Kadri were good to start the year, I wouldn't mind seeing Huberdeau - Kadri - Dube but if Pelletier plays I think I would love to get him on Huberdeau's line.</div></div>
You just know Sutter will put Pelletier on the 4th line. If any experiment needs to end, it is Lucic on the 2nd and PP units.

I think the value is fair for Reinhart, but I doubt they would accept because it leaves them too weak down the middle. I like the idea of giving huberdeau his old linemate though. He certainly needs it.
Calgary would give their 2024 1st, not 2023.

Calgary would definitely want Konecny. There would have to be salary going back though because they are maxed for next season. I could see mangiapane going back the other way or Dube, but it would need to be dollars in, dollars out.
Even with some improvement this year, I don't see Philly being able to move Hayes. His GAR is nowhere near high enough relative to his salary and age.
