Ducks decline. Zegras is their star, and fits the timeline way better than Nylander. Retention on Gibson is awful for them. Brodie is way too old for their window.

Also why would the Ducks make this trade? I get Gibson is washed, but Trevor Zegras is a 22 YO RFA who isn't in his prime yet and Cam Fowler is way better than TJ Brodie while being 2 years younger

I think it has more to do with, not just how large the TOR and MTL fan bases are, but how much of their fan base is passionate vs casual. When you have that many passionate fans, there is bound to be a larger demographic of them that are not very smart. Also, when so much of your fan base is that passionate, it creates an echo chamber that breeds homers who have little to no consideration outside of their own little bubble.

I think the Hawks decline, Jarnkrok is worth the ask on a competitive, contending team but he would just be too similar to so many of the bottom six type forwards the Hawks already have.

The problem with TML is there is so much media attention that the fans get caught up in it. I admit after over 45 years I have become very skeptical of anything positive towards TML. When you see you are close so many times , then TML as usual make a huge bonehead move and then we are on a rebuild again. This has happened so many times you start to feel it will never work. Then with the media making a huge deal over every single thing our players and team does it really causes more bad then good. The TML need to win a cup very soon to relieve a lot of this pressure. This is why I am so aggressive towards winning now. I can not take another rebuild, nor can the fans or team.
