<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>etpeck</b></div><div>A trade involving pesce and andeson as the main pieces just isn’t going to happen because it makes no sense for the canes. The loss of pesce is way more impactful than the addition of Anderson to the roster. You would certainly have to add to the trade, but the canes are going to have no interest in players like Johnsson or Kerfoot. Picks and futures also aren’t going to get it done most likely because the canes are a win now team and trading pesce makes them worse</div></div>

Freddie is available. After his bonus is paid out on day 1 of free agency he is only owed $1M for the remainder of his contract. In order to understand some of these deals, you have to understand the economic climate of the NHL right now. The NHL is a gate driven league, and revenues are going to be WAY down unless fans are in the seats. Any opportunities to get players who have higher cap hits than actual money going out are going to be huge. both Arizona and Ottawa just finished dealing with a grievance about paying players and coaches out. So its not necessarily about a hockey deal as much as an owner saying "cut payroll" and GM's being forced to play these cards. So guys like Freddie who only have $1M of REAL cash going out the door and an expiring contract... and lets face it... he is a REALLY good goalie... have big value that allow a team to be at the floor/cap but costing less. Ottawa is like $17M under the FLOOR right now... they have money to spend to get there... or Contracts like this to acquire because Melnyk is cheap as hell.

The reason Louongo got traded to Vancouver in the first place as Doug MacLean has said, was because the FLA owner came in and said Louongo's payroll has to be gone by tomorrow. I am expecting a LOT of activity but not sure there's alot of room. The Wings have cash, and space... and Yzerman running things. Watch for him this off season.
