That's rather grim (both in terms of injury and candidate for 2nd best ever defenceman).

the man was committed to playing for the Canucks

Man that Gavrikov deals bad if it was 6-8 years fine u could argue it

2 years at almost 6mill is as bad as when Nurse signed that bridge deal that lead to the overpay of the century the following contract

Kings now have 7.3mill to extend Vilardi, a starting goalie, and some depth. Might see another move

Gavrikov probably wanted like 6.5-7mil on a long term deal and that was not happening, near 6 for 2 years is pretty low risk

So I think we all know that by now Quinn Hughes is the best ever defenceman the Canucks have ever had (LMAO).
My question is, who would be the 2nd best defenceman in Canucks history?
Ed Jovanovski? Mattias Öhlund? Someone else?

I think you've got it. Lumme, Lidster, Edler were pretty good for them. It'd probably be Babych, imo, if you counted time before he came to the Canucks, but he was on the downturn by the time he landed in Vancouver.

I know they paid a 1st for him but idk I would have said that money for 4 years. 2 seems a bit low for the price. Like if he wanted 2 years would have went okay 4.5mill or something

Either way now they got some cap stuff to figure out now

Disagree completely. They get the guy they want for two years, and they aren't committed to buying years as he gets older. They are paying a premium for the two years that they want him, and it's a little ugly, but with term, it'd start to look brutal -- not better.

Nurse is overpaid by like 2 mil, if he made 7.25 mil nobody would care but just because he makes 9.25 he gets hated on so much its insane. before Ekholm The man would play 25+ minutes a night and would have to carry the Oilers defense on his back, and he just put up a career-high in points with only 20-30 seconds of powerplay time every game. Nurse also has to carry Ceci a lot, if he had a legit top 4 dman he would play much better. The guy also stands up for his teammates at every chance and he gets such uncalled for hate for that, I'll watch a video of one of his scrums and there will be all these comments calling him such a idiot and a fraud and I just don't understand it at all. I find myself wishing almost everyday that Klefbom was still healthy and was paired alongside Nurse

Anybody have a guess on the value on debrincat’s rights before the draft?

I feel like whatever I guess will be too low and I’ll feel dumb.

I don’t think his previous value of the 7OA plus a few picks is the same as Debrincat is in the position of leverage over his contract now.

Hes 27. If they signed him to a 5-6 year deal he would be 32-33 thats pretty good. 5.875m for 5 years would be far more appealing than 5.875 x 2 years . If he wanted 2 years should have said okay 4mill dont like it bye. As the UFA market had some good options. Graves, Orlov, Soucy, etc. But paying the 1st and letting him walk would have been bad so guess u got to bend to make it look good

By agreeing to this deal LAK just made it comparable to other UFA's now hey u can sign shorter deals for to much money. Gonna see a lot of questionable Dman contracts now lul

And this deals gonna now hurt them cap wise already. They got 7.3 mill to sign Vilardi, bring back Korpisalo and sign 2 depth guys to have more than 20 people.

Can someone go and... take out Vladislav Gavrikov's agent? Jesus Christ...

Gavrikov wouldn’t have taken 5.875x5 though, he’d probably have wanted over 6.25-ish that’s even worse than what Gavrikov has now

If he does a sign and trade like Tkachuck I could see the return be pretty good.

If its just for his rights probs 1st and prospect

I hate the idea of Trading Bratt for New Jersey.

Bratt's younger and better imo than Cat and Meier.

Meier is the power forward they need. Cat is the sniper they need.

Younger by months?

6 months younger than Cat, nearly 2 years younger than Meier. Bratt was also a way better fit in New Jersey, Meier never looked confortable with the Devils Reg Season and Playoffs he looked out of place imo. I don't see why they're sending a "last" offer it should be them giving what he deserves.

Unless he just doesn't want too live in New Jersey and in that case I understand completely.

Jarry apparently wants a 5-6 year deal

Watch them give him a Jack Campbell deal and it immediately backfires
