Looking at it this way:

A truly bad goaltender (Petersen), an undersized injury-prone defenseman (Walker), and a mid-tier prospect (Grans), at least in the short term, is not all that good.

Looking longer, recency shows that the Flyers haven't been great with drafting. Those picks won't amount to a lot if trends continue.

Provorov slots into the role in Columbus's locker room that was vacated when Gavi was traded: a minute-munching 2LD that can be a mentor to the Russian kids (Chinakhov, Marchenko, Tarasov, eventually Voronkov, etc.)

It's not as bad for us as you think.

I don't believe it's terrible for CBJ, although I actually like Provorov.

I think it's unfair to write off the Flyers drafting though, because the bad drafting was in the Hextall days. Fletcher actually has a fairly above average drafting track record from his Minnesota tenure and I like most of his picks he had as Flyers GM so far.

Briere also seems to be a smart guy and he was a great player so he does have some knowledge

I got a feeling were gonna see a second trade where LA gives a package including him to Philly for Hart

But idk then again they may be eyeing someone bigger. Someone who they know has faced EDM and won

Connor Hellybuyck

I def think the flyers taking the bag of dimes for a dollar is the best move for them.

Flush/Jiggle the organization, challenges roles in a bunch of places, breed competition.

Hmmm.

Honestly if TOR sent back Samsonov++ I'd be interested. (Might sound like a lot but 1) Danny B is God. 2) Flyers have no reason to trade Hart unless it's for a overpay)

Or I'm a bumbling idiot that is clueless which is typically partially true

Here's the issue with Hart to Toronto

Samsonov and Woll

Woll showed flashes he is developing into a starting NHL goalie. And Samsonov when healthy and at home was a warrior and looked like a nice starter for us.

Hart's good but its not enough of a needle shift rn for a team like Toronto who wants a cup to go here's a kings ransom. Hellybuck I would understand guys a menace and u put a good team infront of him u can go far. But Harts got some weaknesses to pan out and in a series vs. Tampa, Boston, or FLA that could haunt us.

Hart to me fits with a team on the verge of competing like Buffalo where there isnt so much pressure

Like if Toronto is trading for a goalie I want a proven Vezina winner coming in. Someone u know can carry the load, make game changing saves, and is that X factor.

I don’t see why Toronto would move Samsonov for Hart, that kind of seems like a lateral move, now if it’s Murray going back, that makes much more sense

The issue with that still Woll's not waiver exempt anymore hes almost certainty gonna be the backup unless he was moved for Hart with Murray (doubtful)

Like rn Leafs are carrying 3 goalies and need to move Murray to have their tandem for next season

I would run with Samsonov is TOR's case because I think they have more pressing issues than goalie, and Samsonov is also developing. I'm not expecting Woll too be anything special tbh.

But I think Hart's weaknesses is also a product of the team in front of him.

I think Woll is on track to becoming a solid goaltender. When he played you could see this kid had the makings of a future starter.

Nice rebound control, calm poise, good positioning. Still has some work but in 2 years man he can be scary. As when you look at his development he really stepped it up this year.

His last game 40 saves on 43 shots vs. FLA for a guy who only played 2 whole playoff games thats pretty impressive.

If he plays like he did last year Toronto's got a solid future in net. Having Samsonov as the starter and Woll as the backup is a pretty good tandem.

Pretend you need a goalie.

All things considered, which of these three do you trade and sign for?

Hellebuyck

Hart

Saros

Brad Larsen is also now fired

Might be a hot take but I think he should’ve gotten another chance, this year was a loss for them because everyone was injured

absolutely not. He played 4th line center Sean Kuraly more than the following players:
KJ both years
Texier (21-22)
Sillinger both years
Roslovic (21-22)
Robinson both years

all of those players are better than Kuraly.
Larsen played the "4th" line more than the 2nd and 3rd half the time

There is a benefit to Hart that is quite big, especially considering no cap increase:

He’s 24 so he will not cost all that much. Maybe what, 5.5 AAV?

If somebody picks up saros they have to plan on a pretty big contract in a few years, and Hellebuyck is at the big contact. The cap log jam should only get worse until the relief comes from big raises. With a global recession possibly pending, a skyrocketing salary cap is not a guarantee.

Looking at the Flyers pick outlook within the next 2 years they have.

4 firsts (2 in 23') (2 in 24')
3 2nds (most likely all in 24'), and 3 3rd's (2 in 23') (1 in 24')

With Hayes (brings back about a 3rd and a sweetener imo), Hart (interest seemingly high for goalies rn I'd imagine he brings back a haul which is why Flyers would be willing to deal) both seem likely to be traded at this point.

Also likely traded within the next year (TDA and Sean Walker)

That would give the Flyers a lot of picks, a good chance for a quick turnaround if we can hit in the draft. In 3 years I think we're looking pretty good if we get decent luck.

and P.S. Tortorella has been the one pushing and pressuring ownership for a legitimate rebuild.

So I think we all know that by now Quinn Hughes is the best ever defenceman the Canucks have ever had (LMAO).
My question is, who would be the 2nd best defenceman in Canucks history?
Ed Jovanovski? Mattias Öhlund? Someone else?

That's rather grim (both in terms of injury and candidate for 2nd best ever defenceman).
