To get Bedard off of any team, your offer would need to include Pettersson, a top prospect, and probably your next 2 or 3 1sts. This is a guy who's trending in the McDavid's stratosphere talent-wise. Even then, I don't think there's a team that makes such a deal.

Vancouver could offer Hughes resigned for 8 year, Petterson and as many firsts as possible...... Still likely wouldn't be enough for Bedard

First look at this I be like hell no... For CHI, but they did give away DeBrincat for basically nothing and overpaid for Jones when the team was clearly regressing hard... So, still not saying they will but CHI does do strange moves.

CBJ also don’t need more wingers. Pass.

And man, ain’t no way CHI (or any team) passes up on Bedard. Imagine the history if PIT or EDM had traded the rights to 1OA in 2005 or 2015, all so they could end up with Benoit Pouliot or Pavel Zacha, or something.

You could send as many draft picks and top prospects you want in order to draft Bedard and I heavily doubt a team would be willing to accept any deal. Bedard has really seemed like the real deal type of kid. It would be amazing to draft a hometown kid at 1st overall but knowing the nature of his talents, no team would probably be willing to move the 1st overall pick of 2023 this year

To get to #1 in this year's draft, you'd need to offer something like

One of --
(1) A top-3 pick in this years draft (#2-3)
(2) A cornerstone player (ie, Hughes, Pettersson, Demko)

Three of --
(3) A top prospect (ie, Lekkerimaki)
(4) Another 1st round pick in this year's draft.
(5) Another 1st round pick in later drafts.
(6) A good young player (ie, Hoglander, Rathbone)

2OA, 2024 first, and Lekkerimaki is plenty for 1OA, which is basically Michkov (2OA), Lekkerimaki (15 OA), and a pick between 10-20 OA probably in 2024.

On the surface it appears the Hawks got fleeced in the Cat trade. HOWEVER, the Cat trade makes sense in hindsight. Why? Cat was, and still is, unwilling to sign an extension so basically all Chicago could trade him for is 2 years of service, the 2nd year simply RFA rights and Cat holding arbitration rights. In return, Chicago got Korchinski who is already looking like one of the top defensive prospects in the league plus a 2nd and 4th rounder, so in hindsight it was not a terrible trade given what Chicago had to work with and Cat's and his agent unwilling to sign an extension in Chicago or anywhere. Big risk for Ottawa if all they get is this season and next out of Cat plus the risk of arbitration on the 2nd year.

And to expand on this, Jones trade was under a different GM. Cannot lump them together.
