Counter point: Fleury was picked 1st overall, Price was picked 5th overall, Vasilevskiy was picked 19th overall, and Brodeur was picked 20th overall. Goalies are voodoo except for when they’re not lol. It’s definitely worth using a late round pick every year on a goalie just in case though, until you have the opportunity to select a potential generational talent high in the draft.

I wouldn't risk it. The likes of DiPietro, Lehtonen, Bernier and Dubnyk were also first round picks but aside off their quite short lived prime they never really stood out to be worthy of that high of a pick.
Personally speaking if I were a GM I wouldn't ever take a goalie in the first round. Maybe at the 2nd or 3rd if some relatively potential one worth scouting had dropped a bit, but other than that, I wouldn't take one.
Goalies are hard to gauge
Campbell was taken what 11th OA and for the start of his career looked like a bust but 12 years later is 1st in the NHL in SV, GAA, and 2nd shutouts (Lindgren has only played a few games so in reality Campbell is first amongst starting goalies)
Its all about patience, development, and consistency to truly know how well a goalie will turn out in the NHL
As some turn out great immediately, while others take time, heck some just are not cut out to play in the NHL.
Draft position to me though really does not influence how well a goalie will do as so far in todays NHL we have seen goalies who were taken late do well and those who were drafted in the 1st round do well. Its all about the factors I mentioned above.
