I doubt the league could just take money from the hawks and give it to beach. Maybe there’s a way around it. Penalty to chicago, then the league, “settles,” a potential lawsuit with beach for an oddly similar amount. Honestly $10M kind of seems like a slap on the wrist.

1,000% agreed. It is exponentially worse. We on this site understand what picks cost both $ wise and to a teams success. I just have a hard time understanding what a 1st round pick would mean to KB? The Wirtz family should be forced out imo. The same way the NBA forced out Donald Sterling.

NCAA does this a lot. Should be considered but the major leagues are too craven about it.

Because if the team fired them, they’d have to pay their salary and it could be ground for a wrongful dismissal lawsuit since they did it 11 years ago on a different team, this way Q, Bowman, probably Chevy will not be paid by the team, keep a shred of dignity and won’t sue the team. Also yes, Toews, Keith, Kane aren’t looking too good right now

I’ve seen a lot of picks being taken, but that isn’t fair. More investigation needs to be taken against Toews and Kane, but the rest shouldn’t be punished really. To the best of Gary Bettman,s knowledge, ownership had no idea of the incident. The Hawks themselves shouldn’t be chastised. However, Joel Quenneville and Stan Bowman should be discredited and banned from the league, for both covering the incident up and letting the perpetrator move on with no consequences. I’ve heard some conversations on whether or not this is aiding and abetting a criminal.
Kane and Toews both stood by Stan Bowman in the incident, saying he was not directly responsible. This is trash. He covered an illegal act up for a playoff run, and knowing of the incident, let Aldrich take the cup to a high school. Bowman and the entire senior staff of the time should be held responsible.

Don’t take the cups from the hawks, just from players who made homophobic comments toward beach, and maybe toews and Kane for sticking up for Q and Bowman
