So Calgary should trade their 1C on one of the best contracts in the leaugue, #1 player, and one of the best analytic players in the league for an overpaid (but still good) winger and expensive depth players? That package should be for Matthews, wouldn't move Lindholm alone for Marner.

That’s not a shakeup, that’s an awful return for the flames. Marner is a better player than JG (not that huge of a difference though) but the contract situation essentially evens their value out, especially in a flat cap.

Then you have Mang who is way better and more valuable than Holl and then you have Lindholm who is worlds better than Kerfoot. This is an all time bad trade suggestion.

Holl is on a very good contract. And Kerfoot has a reasonable contract. It's true he is a downgrade from Lindholm but the Flames are getting the best player in this trade.

Again, the value for the Flames is the potential of icing a Tkachuk-Dvorak-Marner line which was dynamite in the OHL.

If I’m CGY and this is your proposal then I tell you to acquire Dvorak and make it Marner & Dvorak for this package. Then there is a real incentive to put that line back together. But making CGY spin their tires on a hypothetical theory that CGy has to do all the work and overpay in both trades to make it a reality is a bad concept. Or you change Lindholm to Backlund this would be fair straight up.
