I'd take that Huberdeau trade. A 3 years term is much better than 7. Moreover we can always buyout Anderson.

A little bit of fun
I don't mind CGY taking on Maatta especially if there's a pick attached to him(3rd?). Likely the Flames are going to look for a LD in free agency tomorrow on a 1-3 year deal.
Likely candidates: Brodie, OEL, Cole, Martinez, Dillon, Suter, Forbort, Gustafson.

No thanks on Joseph. We'd likely be interested in Centers though, so how about Greig instead?

We don't have to move him, and teams have been calling about him, he didn't ask for a trade. Moreover, why would the Pittsburgh rebuild be any better?

Yeah I don't see that happening... That's a very risky move for Carolina. They could probably spend a fraction of the assets they get back for Necas to get Kadri, assuming he waives.

Get them all
I'm pretty sure that if the Flames were going to swing a Kadri trade it would be without retention.
Otherwise, I don't mind keeping him. He was very good for us last year. He made Zary, Pospisil, and Kuzmenko better when they got to play with him.

Don't mind the Flames deal. Would probably try to steal Lundkvist instead of Kyrou, but that's a good framework for a deal.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>I think it's fine if the retention is removed. I think Bourque is a bit overrated because of his AHL success this year. He's the same age as guys like Zary who are already succeeding in the NHL. I am not calling him a bad prospect or anything like that though</div></div>
I think anything more would be getting greedy. IMO Bourque had a great year in the AHL, and he's a Center, a position we clearly lack in. He's worth at the very least a late 1st to the Flames.
Lunkvist is also progressing very nicely. He has a top 4 potential, and is worth a high 2nd at the very least.
That's why I can't see us doing any better than that.

(WSH/CGY) - 2025 2nd (COL) for Mangiapane
I think WSH is going to love Mangiapane!
He just keeps pushing the puck up the ice and winning puck battles. He is relentless on the forecheck, goes to the tough areas, and plays like he's a foot taller.
Things got a bit stale in CGY, but you can pencil him in for 20-25G, 40-50P next season. Most of them will come 5 on 5.

No idea, but I think that the Flames will trade him for the right price(anything close to what Chychrun got).
You might have been right after all, there are rumors on Flames forums now around Weegar and OTT 7th, hope they're not true, but it's going to be a fun draft day...
Have a good one!

You also had another 2nd, which was a conditional 1st in there. Every draft is deep on draft day. We'll see in 10 years how deep it was. The 23, 25, and 26 drafts seem to be better than 24, but that's my opinion.

What did you pay for Chychrun again?
You overvalue the pick IMO. If it turns out to be an Andersson then it would be a pretty good pick.
Let's look at the 7th overall picks over the last little while:
FP: Hughes(2018)
L1/P1: Keller(2016), Scheifele(2011), Voracek(2007)
L2/P2: Cozens(2019), Provarov(2015), Skinner(2010), Kadri(2009), Okposo(2006)
L3/P3: Holtz(2020), Nurse(2013), Dumba(2012), Wilson(2008)
Depth: Andersson(2017), Fleury(2014), Skille(2005), Olesz(2004)

The NYI trade looks like a clear W for the Flames.
I'm okay with the Mangiapane trade, nothing special but I don't expect getting more than a 2nd back.
The OTT trade is pretty bad for CGY IMO. Andersson is worth the 7th + a 2nd. Sharangovich is worth a mid 1st, while Joseph is worth a 2nd.
As for the signings, that's way too much money for Kylington. And it's rumored that DeBrusk will be getting 4 x $5.5M from us.

Balancing it out
If Theodore waives to come here, then sure. I think we can easily flip him for a 1st + 2nd at the deadline, or a return similar to Hanifin.
An extension for Theodore also works for me, because I see him as the superior defender to Andersson.
I doubt VGK does it, because you downgrade your D and give up assets for negligible cap savings in a year.

Yes please form CGY. I've been a huge fan of Lindgren for a while, and he's the exact type of D we need, assuming we can sign him long term(5+ years) at a reasonable caphit.

Extreme Makeover D Edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rooster</b></div><div>I guess by "cost-controlled" I am referring to a cap that will be north of $92 million in two years. A top 4 guy will likely be worth $10-11 mil per season soon. And yes Weegar is a steal at $6.5 million, and I don't want to minimize what I think of him (otherwise why make this ACGM trade?). I was thinking that he's 3 years older and the aging curve will hit him sooner than Chabot. And the beauty for Calgary is that Chabot is a 3 year vs. a 7 year commitment. Either way, totally get where you're coming from.
Realistically, I see the Sens shipping Chychrun and holding on to Chabot.</div></div>
Personally, I like both Chychrun and Chabot, both are quality #2/3D. It just seemed like a bit of a lateral move without a clear direction for the Flames.
I also don't see Weegar aging very poorly, but a part of that could be getting spoiled by having Giordano as a top pairing D into his late 30s.
I can definitely see the Flames moving on from Weegar at some point, I just don't see it happening this season. Especially after Weegar publically stated he wanted to see things through and have a bigger leadership role for the Flames.
If the Flames were going to trade a D this offseason it would likely be Andersson IMO.

Extreme Makeover D Edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rooster</b></div><div>Really? They get a cost-controlled top 4 dman who is 3 years younger, and who's contract ends 3 years earlier than Weegar's. Plus 2 draft picks. I think a 1 for 1 isn't doable, but with the extra picks I see this as pretty equitable. Weegar's contract might start to age out soon. I like the deal for both teams.</div></div>
When a player is making $8M, he is no longer cost controlled. He is paid to be a difference maker on a nightly basis. Chabot is a pretty good D, but I don't see him as a true #1D. Moreover, his injury history is pretty long so you can pencil him in to miss 10-20 games a season.
I could be overvaluing Weegar, but at $6.5M he truly is cost controlled for the next 7 years.

MY 32 Oilers for 24-25
I would rather trade Andersson for a 1st in the 10-20 range + 2 x 2nds, and without taking on a cap dump.
Maybe I'm off on that, but that's what Chychrun brought back.

Yeah, I remember they both were quite productive together. Also, Mikheyev was on a 50P pace in 2 of the last 3 seasons if I'm not mistaken.
