If Theodore waives to come here, then sure. I think we can easily flip him for a 1st + 2nd at the deadline, or a return similar to Hanifin.

An extension for Theodore also works for me, because I see him as the superior defender to Andersson.

I doubt VGK does it, because you downgrade your D and give up assets for negligible cap savings in a year.

That is a great deal for Calgary, Korczak is underrated and an extended Theodore with a 2nd.

Theodore does not come extended, that is a decision made after a trade is made. And while I like Theodore and think he is a very good defenseman, if Calgary would be looking for primarily futures in an Andersson trade. Not 75% of the trades value coming in a 29 year old pending UFA defenseman. The value itself is not the issue it's the pieces involved

The pieces are good, even if Theodore doesn't want to extend and the trade deadline he would be moved for a great hall, with retention even a bigger hall. Again I think you are underestimating Korczak. In a few years he will be as good as Andersson but meaner.

That's highly unlikely, Andersson is a top ~25 defenseman in the league. If he was that good he would never be even remotely available.

Again I think you are not seeing the big picture here. Theodore absolutely could return a good haul at the deadline, from a contending team. A return similar to what Hanifin or H. Lindholm got is probably realistic. But with Andersson we are looking at a return similar to Chychrun. If Calgary made Andersson available right now they could probably land a top 15 pick ++

OP made Korczak available, if Vegas ever did, which I assume they won't, but if they did, you take this deal and run.

Just cuz Dorion gave up a lot to get Chychrun doesn't mean that Ottawa will get the same return if they trade him now, not a top 15 pick + +. Maybe something to what Hanafin got. Anderson would get a bit more than either of them but nothing to the proposed return.

You are right, I wasn't really paying attention to who made the thread. As for Korczak, while I agree he does have potential to be a decent defenseman, his ceiling is that of a #3/4 defensive dman. He will probably never get more than 30 points a season let alone 50 like Andersson.

I completely disagree with you on this one. There are literally rumours every day about how teams like Buffalo, New Jersey, Ottawa, Philly, etc are making their top 15 picks available. Also that Chychrun trade was not some sort of "one time, never happening again" thing, Hronek was literally traded right before that for a pick that was top 15 at the time.

OK so similar to Hronek then,a mid teen 1st and a 2nd round pick. Then you are hoping that mid 1st will be something in 2 to 4 yrs time. If Vegas sent Calgary this trade, they'd get that 2nd rounder, a sure thing in Korczak and Theodore, who could br flipped for a late 1st, and 2nd.. In the end they' d get more. Korczak will be a No. 3 D, who could put up 40 points but most likely in the low to mid 30s. But he is better defensively and a lot more aggressive.

This is a pointless conversation, you clearly don't know the difference between a 1st between 25th and 32nd vs a 1st between 10th and 17th. And you are also vastly overrated Korczak
