There's arguments against for both sides but it's most concerning for Carolina and the issues they'd been having with getting regular goal scoring; while adding someone like Chinakhov would probably be welcome, KJ is too playmakery, the 2024 1st doesn't bring someone fast enough for a win-now team, and giving up Svech to make it happen arguably makes the team worse instead of better.
And for Columbus, Svechnikov is awesome but we've got a lot of quality wingers in a similar vein already we're kind of shuffling around, so while it does technically consolidate assets it doesn't do a very effective job of team buliding in the process. And trading multiple wingers for one big one is going to be a difficult deal to pull off; I'd rather see if there's any blueline patches we can make that way as the odds seem somewhat better of finding a market opportunity there.
