Nic Robertson is great but he woudn’t fit with MTL’s forward group. Fraser would be a good future 3rd liner for MTL. Value wise, it is a good trade.

You have to be a fake fan if you are trading anything more than a 3rd for Matheson

I'm glad that you can agree that Matheson is a stud, and therefore he won't be traded for anything less than a blue-chip prospect (even knies isn't one)

He'll be traded at the TDL with a year left giving MTL the most leverage for a return
But no it wont be a blue chip piece unless its like a Pacioretty deal where we take back a contract

To EDM for Ceci , Holloway and two 2nd's unless MTL RS seems most likely if we were taking back a player.
Then again a 3 way trade could offer better results or talk to LAK about a Kalyev based deal could work and he fits our Coaches style of play

Lots of deals out there that dont mess us up but CGY and FLA trades where we help them hurts us.

Gostisbehere went for a 3rd after putting up 31 points in 52 games on a historically bad Arizona team, and Barrie was literally traded with a 1st+ attached 1.5 years after leading all defensemen in scoring. Power play specialists that suck at 5v5 aren't worth nearly as much as you think.

1. Habs aren't likely to trade Matheson until Hutson is putting up 50+ points and forcing him down the lineup.

2. Habs aren't trading Matheson for less than a 1st + top prospect. Hell, we got a 1st + 3rd for Chairot and a 3rd + 7th for Edmundson, so don't listen to anyone claiming "Matheson isn't worth more than a 3rd" cause they just simply don't know hockey!

Barrie was part of the Eklholm trade. Feel like that was a misrepresentation.

Except… Matheson has among the top 5 toughest competition among defensemen. He plays real minutes at 5v5 not just munchkins unlike the others you named.

Suggesting he’s not worth more than a 3rd is not knowing anything about the player sorry.

When did 31 points equate to 60+? Hell it's barely half ROFLMFAO, math is hard for you isn’t it?!

Barrie was traded for Ekholm hence the need to attach a 1st and top prospect. The trade was technically 2 1sts and a replacement for Ekholm but the Oilers needed to attach cap as well so they added Barrie in much the same way that Vegas added Tatar in the Patches deal. A player is attached as a cap offset isn't the same as a player traded with a 1st to dump his contract. I just love reading your posts they make me laugh every time with how little you know about hockey and how you try to sound intelligent but utterly fall short.

Matheson has 32 even strength points this season and 28 PP points. He starts 55% of the time in the defensive zone and leads the team in blocked shots (tied with Guhle at 178) but you know he is bad defensively and is only a PP specialist and not worth more than a 3rd! ROFLMFAO, tell me you know nothing about the game of hockey, without telling me you know nothing about the game of hockey!

You should really stop while your reputation is somewhat salvageable!

I have no problem if Habs want to keep him but the idea that Habs fans think anyone is going to pay them premium for him is hilarious. He has some of the worst 5v5 metrics in the league and his 5v5 production is horrible considering his total production this season.

To further explain this, Matheson ranks 9th with 60 total points, Morrissey is 8th with 64, and Dahlin is 10th with 58. In 5v5 Morrissey ranks 3rd with 40 points, Dahlin is in a 5 way tie for 18th with 29, and Matheson is in an 11 way tie for 49th with 21.

Are you bad at math? In what world does 52 games equate to 80 games?

I didn't say the 1st was used to dump Barrie. I would have used the word dump if I was calling him a dump.

Let me give you another example though, Erik Gustafsson was put up 60 points in 79 games in 18/19. The following year he was traded for a 3rd round picks.

He also doesn't have 32 EV points he has 25. I'll break it down for you exactly. 21 at 5v5, 29 on the PP, 2 on the PK, 1 at 3v3, 2 at 4v4, 5 with the goalie pulled, and 3 vs an EN.

Defensive zone starts is a **** argument when only 5 of your teams regulars have higher than 50% of starts in the O-zone. Blocked shots also doesn't make you good defensively. John Carlson has 184 blocked shots this year, Gudbranson has 170.

Don't play into his delusions, he said Monahan wouldn't return a 1st+ since his favorite team had to pay a 1st for us to take him. He hates the Habs runs down almost every player and prospect in our system. Caufield and Hutson are too small, Slaf is too slow, Guhle is a 3rd pairing guy. It's always the same BS with him.

Leafs take a pass on this one... Matheson's okay, but they could get more value from the defensemen in FA without getting rid of Minten or Robertson or a 1st

Yes, everyone always thinks it's hilarious that Habs fans want a fair return for our players. Nothing new there.

Didn't take you for one of those clueless posters though. Your explanation is irrelevant to my comment, but you (in a round about way) have answered my question. Yes, this is your latest shtick and you'll be posting asinine comments about Matheson trades.

Believe whatever you want but history tends to repeat itself. Maybe he returns a bit more than a 3rd but trades like the OP's are completely out to lunch. He would certainly not return even half of that
