I'd love to get Vejmelka in Columbus, but not that deal. No reason to tank the value of KJ (who won't be moved while injured anyway) by tying him to the Elvis boat anchor.

If Hayton would sign a short term, low AAV contract to prove himself, it could work out very well for Edmonton. But the injury history combined with the QO combined with arbitration eligibility makes this one a bit risky for a cap strapped team.

Agreed. I'd just as soon drop Ryan and the 5th from the deal though - Ryan is a useful depth piece who can be fully buried if necessary.

It’s an oilers fan that posted this, guys. I’m not sure if this person knows Haytons value based on this trade, but I agree with you, that if this was offered, we would accept in a heartbeat.

the idea was that derek ryan is LDS and the opportunity to finish his career in salt lake city would probably mean a lot to him. it was more about doing right by the player from edmonton perspective.
