this is a Trev Team
we have a logjam of forwards already. I dont really think that package would interest the jackets at all. We would be looking for picks more than bottom 6ers. So i guess to answer question, no Holmberg and Robertson would not equate to 1.6 retention, at least not from us.

Andy would missed soccer net
We traded him to avoid paying Andy that contract, yall signed it so yall can keep it. Also trading Laine at his lowest value only makes sense if he demands a trade, until he does that we would keep to hope he can either find a fit or regain value.

Van - CbJ at the draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Julius_Freezer</b></div><div>Boqvist has almost no value and KJ has stagnated in Columbus, how much value does he really have? I admit VAN probably has to add more but I also feel like CBJ fans are significantly overvaluing Kent Johnson....</div></div>
We just got a 3rd rounder for Peeke, Boqvist definitely has more value than him so hes probably worth a 2nd or 3rd. KJ has stagnated? the dude is 21. He has top 6, maybe top line potential. On top of that we have no reason to trade him, so it would take an overpay to get a deal done. 2 mid prospects and a late 1st isnt close. Admittedly i dont know Van's prospects that well, but it would probably take the best player/prospect under 23 that you have to get the Jackets to be interested.

More ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>The big draw here is Robertson. He is still worth a second round pick by many insiders. His 5v5 results in limited time for offense actually mirror the leafs stars. He struggles defensively still and rarely plays with the man advantage. He has great speed and an elite shot that a team willing to give him a chance to easily get a top 6 forward. Right now he can be a good of not better 3rd line forward for many teams. This to get us a defenseman that many believe of he can stay healthy still has top pairing potential if not than top 4. Yes big if on remaining healthy and playing enough but we have a limited amount of defensive prospects but a few good forwards in Cowan, minten tverberg etc....
Also blueliner is not softer as we still have Benoit, McCabe edmundson and Roy is not a soft player either. We need more than bruisers, we need defensemen who can move the puck as well as at the moment we only have Reilly and Liljegren.</div></div>
The big draw in your trade is the unlisted draft pick. The mid prospects dont have much value to us. I wouldnt give a 3rd for Robertson, so if yall can find a team to give up a 2nd you should take it and run.

Jackets easy pass. Armia is a 4th liner, he wouldnt play anywhere near Laine.

That certainly wont get it done. Make it MTL's 1st and you would at least be getting closer.

Draft Floor Risk Trade
Jackets easily pass. Late 1sts arent going to get it done. You have to give to get and you arent giving the same value that you are getting. MTL's 1st or a top prospect would have to be included for KJ. For Dumais you would need a similar level prospect, i doubt picks would get it done, but more than likely the team wants to keep Dumais, as teams usually believe in their prospects more than other teams do, so i doubt there would be an agreement on value.

Elvis isnt worth much, but he worth much more than Campbell. EDM would have to add to get a deal done.

We arent trading him, butI dont think the Leafs have the caliber of prospects needed for a Jiricek trade anyway. Maybe start with Knies and a 1st, but i doubt that would be the best offer if he were made available.

another CBJ AGM got me wondering
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Values are relative to a team. If Boston wants to pay for Elias Lindholm, they can secure him without giving up anything or they can resign Jake DeBrusk.
Laine should have value for a team that can’t recruit a top free agent and has cap room, but how many of those exist. I believe Laine will have more value to Columbus than other teams
Im fairly positive that most people on cap friendly don’t know the intricacies of actual value.</div></div>
"a contract no one ever takes"
This is how you described Laine's contract. That is exactly how Peeke's contract was described before the TDL

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Sweeney decided that the development situation was minimizing Peeke’s value and he paid to get him. That’s a completely different financial play than Laine. Peeke doesn’t prevent Sweeney from pursuing a Free Agent that better fits our needs. Laine would at this dollar figure.
I agree that Columbus should keep him because there are good teams that have cap room this year and you likely won’t get a better player in free agency,</div></div>
Thats not what im saying. Im saying everyone on here was so sure Peeke had no value, but he did. It shows that people on here have no idea the values of players, so saying that no one would ever take Laine at his contract isnt worth much.

Would you buy out Elvis
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>Has he? ive seen streaks here and there but no i havent noticed.
I just see a declining goal scorer with decling numbers basically since his first 2 seasons
He's 25 , overpayed and struggling to even be a consistent Goal Scorer now
He can play Elite hockey he just doesnt do it shift to shift or day to day
I compare him to Kotkanemi as he might live up to his potential some day
It just wont be here in this system or else it woulda showed signs already
TBH like WPG likes to play a physical game limiting the times they chase the puck.
MTL is all Speed and Transition hockey. Or D handle most of the rough stuff down low infront of our Goalie.
Outside that there's few Pezzetta's in the line up and plenty of Newhook's
CBJ can keep him 100% but you gotta do something as Johnny Hockey and Laine went south in hopes of Winning im sure.
I know not all teams are a great fit for players they sign so it happens and he's just as likely to continue that decline here too
Each year he scores a little less and thats an issue when he's defined by his offense leagely
We all got out Josh Andersons though
Guys we love even when they decline as we have faith they'll turn it around
C'est La Vie</div></div>
He was a PPG player a couple years ago, which is the best point rate hes ever gotten in his career. Last year he was just a little less than that at .95 points per game. So the decline is being extremely over stated. Its absolutely reasonable to think after coming back from the player assistance program and having a competent coach will lead to him bouncing back. The Jackets havent had a consistent system since he came here, so i dont think we could even know if he would fit in the future system that a new coach would implement.
We already had Josh Anderson, we got rid of him instead of signing him to a contract he could never live up to.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>The retention is irrelevant. It pushes him from a contract no one ever takes to one where people probably don’t want him at.
I’d be pissed if Boston gave ANY asset for him at that dollar figure. I’d rather sign Elias Lindholm or Jake DeBrusk and give up nothing</div></div>
it makes no sense to trade him if thats what it takes. We will just hold on to him and hope he can recover his value or find his fit in our lineup. People on this site also said no one would take Peeke without retained salary or we would have to pay to dump him, then yall gave us a 3rd.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Billy316</b></div><div>He wont , not in CBJ
Not his Style of Hockey
MTL though he could be a fit with Roy on 2nd with Newhook
That said we'd have to send back Anderson or Gally in any deal along with CGY's 1st
So what about a 1st, 3rd , Gally for Laine</div></div>
What isnt his style of hockey? not only has he played well here already but we will have a new coach, so a new style.

Why trade Laine at his lowest value? we should hang on to him. put him on a line with Johnny and Fantilli and hope they can get going under a competent coach
