Canes have the cap to keep all of Jarvis, Necas, and Guentzel, and this doesn't make them consider moving Necas. People seem to not understand, Carolina has 30 million in cap space. They have more than enough to keep Necas unless you meet the asking price. This doesn't.

Not really
First 2 goal night as a habs tonight
First time he's looked healthy since we got him
TBH we might just invest in him like we did Armia who now hit a career high for Goals trying to chase down his career high in points after starting in the AHL
Post Surgery Armia took some time but adjusted well in his return while Dvo came back early and looked like a different player straight out the gate.

That said we did just sign Florian Xhekaj to a ELC then to a AHL PTO
If he makes the AHL team on their playoff run he could be skipping his final year in Junior
Given the year he's had i wouldnt count him out but we can play him on Dvo's wing until the TDL so Flo gets some Faceoff Experience.

Either way Dvo like Armia is being associated with their past Baggage.
Both are looking healthy for once and selling early after waiting all these years wouldnt be smart
I mean Hughes turned Kulak into Hutson lets not forget so being patient could pay off big for us long term

Anderson on the other hand is a player we might pay to move out if the cost isnt too high
We could RS and make moves but who wants to RS that long anyways ?

Whats the Conservative estimate on CHI taking Anderson ?

Why are you buying out Anderson while also having 20 million in cap space?

Anderson would cost Montreal's 24' unprotected 1st so probably not worth it for a team that doesn't need the cap space yet

Dvorak is a dump. He can't stay healthy....he's a dump. If Montreal wants to invest in him, then take the risk and do so and hope he's healthy by the trade deadline and putting up numbers to support his almost $5M cap hit; otherwise he's a dump until that point.

Just because he had a two goal game tonight doesn’t mean teams, especially a rebuilding team, will be offering a pick(s) to take Dvorak and his $4.45m cap hit and $5.75m actual cash payout for next season off the Habs hands. The guy has rarely been healthy this season and when he has played he has been useless.

As @SociallyHawkward stated it takes a 2nd round pick to move Dvorak with Montreal getting FC in return, if that is too steep of a price to pay then keep him.

Chicago could find 15 Dvoraks in free agency this year for free, I’m not sure why they would pay a 3rd round pick for MTLs

Its almost like there's this magical tool that GM's have at their disposal in Retained Salary
Its pretty complex but essentially a General Manager can Retain up to 50% Salary on Dvoraks final year of his 4.45m bringing it to 2.225m
At which point and again this is all clearly too complex to consider Common Knowledge, But out GM can then pay a 4th round pick for another team to RS 50% again bringing it to 1.125m

Now follow me on this a Faceoff Center if Healthy even in a Career Worst year like Staal or Plekanec or Hanzal ,ext
Teams will still pay a decent package with more quantity then Quality as Faceoff Centers come TDL are always first off the board
Even if MTL give up a 4th to RS they'd be giving up about 40% of the average return those 3 had with a similar career average in Faceoff Stats but Dvorak didnt struggle nearly as bad as they did in those final years before they eventually retired. Dvorak is overpaid and kinda a mediocre 3rd line Center but his ability to take bulk faceoffs will see him continue to get signed even as he ages .
Just look at Glendenning he's constantly finding new homes even as he ages because he's so dominant in the Faceoff Circle.

But yeah i think gambling on Dvorak is worth it as worst case he finishes his season on LTIR and the cap hit aint our problem

Name 15 Centers with 55% win rate over 1000 draws and we'll talk
Even in a down year 9 points in 26 games with 59% faceoff win rate isnt bad at all
He has issues sure but lets not Pretend all Centers are Equal as Faceoffs are important
If they werent then why not just flip a coin instead of have a faceoff?

We are already talking so I’ll skip naming the centers request.

Also, a purely hypothetical question for no particular reason.

Would you rather have Connor Bedard on your team, or a 20 pt player who has 75% faceoff win rate?

You seem to really like faceoff wins, so I think it’s a relevant question.

Chicago has no use for him so they will want assets to take him on...thus he's a dump

He sounds wonderful, Montreal should keep him.

I am curious though, what is his FO win % in games where he is injured?

LOL, you obviously missed the point. His face-off win % means SFA if he can’t stay healthy and be in the lineup and yet here you are pushing it as his main selling feature.
