This is awful for Chicago.

Hard to imagine any of these teams consider those trades. San Jose doesn't have retention slots, so they need value up front to take on salary. Nashville is retooling and don't need Maatta. Montreal values Xhekaj more than that.

Some of those contracts also seem pretty optimistic.

nope he spent some time in Laval after returning from brief injury and has been logging more ice time since his return. They are also trying to spread time around a pretty full d-group but he is certainly not looking like a player they will shape to create some space, most likely Savard will be moved either in the off season or some time next year and Harris seems to be the other top candidate to be moved.

You could remove Reichel from the CHI trade entirely and CHI would still decline. That isn't enough to get CHI to take on Copp's contract, period.
