Leafs got Dewar! One of the guys I really wanted, believe I had previously called him one of the sneakiest additions a contender could make for their bottom 6. Love it
Actually maybe not, OEL had long term retention (though that was 990k retained), we've also seen multiple long term retention now with Phil Kessel, EK, Burns

I mean he'll only be 37 and he's still a PPG player. There's almost zero chance it becomes as bad as Vlasic's contract.
The fact you said there’s almost a zero percent chance makes you look like you’re just hating to hate.
I’m literally cheering for Hertl to win 2+ cups.
But Hertls having his 3rd? knee surgery. And he’s also not a PPG player. I love him and he’s a 1C in my eyes but 37 for a guy who’s already had 3 knee surgery’s isn’t a zero % chance (and there was no obvious play this year that made you think Hertls knee was shot again).

Vlasic was a DFD when the game was much slower in the early 10's. The game has massively evolved and that's why he regressed as much as he did. He's similar to Alzner who went from a good top 4, to our of the NHL within 2 years. The game simply evolved past him. You do bring up a good point about Hertl's knee surgery, but he's never been a fast player and his game has never revolved around his speed.

Speed has been apart of Hertls game just not in the way of foot speed and when you say it doesn’t your simply wrong.
Hertl is a play driver. He forces his way through puck battles physically and wins battles and his foot work and speed helps him often. He’s not fast like a Kyrou, not even close to fast. But his play stule heavily revolves around his movement ability and strength on his skates. He needs to have fast footwork and edges and be strong on his feet. And he often uses what speed he has to help drive plays down the wall and in tight to force defenders to either break or commit and then try’s to win the 1on1 battle.
