Description
Putting together a few moves I’ve seen in the ACGMs that have generally been well-received.

The goal for CBJ is clearing roster spots. Can’t say we really have any prime TDL assets (unless someone wants to overpay for Provorov); so, the point is more to get *something* and put the young guns in the best position to play. I’m a big Blankenburg fan, so I slot him before Jiricek, and just let him cook in CLE rather than continuing to piss him off with the up-and-down game.

Elvis for Campbell and Laine to BOS likely are off-season moves.

I am curious - having trouble finding who could be a good Laine fit. Suggestions?

Boston deadline cap space is 87,500. 8m going to be a rough pull.

Even if they had it….no.

No, that's what pure cap dumps who are replacement level nhl players with term cost to move.
He sucks real bad, makes almost 3 mill a year and has multiple years left.

I think rangers trade is ok, maybe take out pitlick and you'd probably have to retain on Roslovic for cap to work depending on if they go for some top 6 help

So how much do you think it would cost to move a 7/8 defender with 2+ years left at almost 3 million?

I'd say 2 4th rounders would be more than fair but, at 25 and 6'3 I'm sure a team with more capspace would be fine with giving up a 5th to kick tires on him. I agree he doesn't fit with TO

I think you probably get a 3rd for Roslovic with the full retention. So this isn't terribly far off but probably could use a slight adjustment.

considering it costs a 4th rounder to get a team to retain 1 million from the deadline to the end of the season, that is incredibly hopeful.

I mean, right now I don’t see Elvis having much more value. He’s a serviceable goalie, and Campbell has shown he can be that as well. Goalies are mostly voodoo, so I could see a change of scenery working for both.

This feels like a Horton/Clarkson situation. Trading headaches.

Boqvist is a prime offensive-D, who would be a great middle-pairing guy if he could stay healthy (though, FWIW, some of them have been weird and fluky. he ain’t getting a 1st, but a conditional 3rd feels fitting.

The thing is, you aren’t wrong! But I keep seeing TOR ACGMs not just trading for him, but overpaying for him!

Sure, retention ain’t an issue. I was including the other players more for balancing rosters than based on pure value.

Got it. Laine feels like a prime trade candidate, and I’m just trying to see who could use him. Was thinking BOS could use a T6 W.

Plus, let’s face it…on a better team he is gonna go out there and score 96 goals.

I mean, Horton was injured and CBJ didn't\couldn't have a player making that much money and not playing so not the same thing.
Elvis is actually having a decent statistical year on a bad team, so it's not as simple as swapping problematic players he has genuine value

I agree that Campbell and Elvis should be seen as close to equal value. But I think the Oilers still decline on the basis of Campbell being 400K cheaper. And Elvis’s attitude of “not wanting to be back up” kinda kills the deal anyways. Skinner and Pickard have been good enough to where we don’t really need to touch goaltending at all. Keep Campbell buried in the minors and buy him out in the Summer.

Boqvist for a 3rd… hmm maybe. Although not really the type of D we are looking for. But the value is probably right.

Just curious. At his current salary and production, would teams who are attractive markets for free agents take Laine for free.

I like Laine. I’d rather have the salary slot than him personally for the Bruins

The real answer to this, jackets don't trade him.

Having watched him play now for a few years, he's got talent, size, and is RD. He(and the whole team!) would greatly benefit from getting a REAL NHL HEAD COACH finally. Peeke has the right tools, he just needs help putting them to use in the right way.

If another team that's building and has cap was smart they would scoop him up for nothing now and have a real NHL coach already in place for the rebuild. At worst, he fills a hole for 2 seasons. At best, you could end up with a top 4 RD.
