An Outsiders Vision - BOS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>I guess I just don't think Ullmark will return much more than that. I see that value as being a bit shy of a 1st and Turcotte as being exactly the kind of young player that BOS could unlock. Agree to disagree.</div></div>
If the return is that, Boston can continue the two goalie rotation that has led to a lot of regular season success.
Turcotte’s value is based on his draft pedigree as opposed to his play. I’d rather give Poitras a clean shot for the third line center role
There are so many teams whose piss poor goalie performance led to underachieving. Ullmark should easily bring in a first.

Keeping Lindholm
Why on earth would Lindholm take a show me deal with a team where he isn’t likely be a top 6 center? If he does it, it will be with the distinct desire to get paid in the future and he will pick a team where he can play with top line talent

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>This was already posted earlier today, but without the 4th.
LA is going to press hold on Ullmark, Bruins let the cat out of the bag during negotiation, Ullmark nixed the trade, and Ullmarks value becomes cheaper after Swayman is signed.</div></div>
Is the hope here that cap issues force the Bruins to sell cheap on Ullmark? With their current cap situation, that isn’t an issue. My guess is if there are enough teams with piss poor goalie situations where atleast one is going to pay up. If not, having two great goalies has its advantages.
In reality, I don’t see the Kings being in a position to take Ullmark unless they trade a contract as part of the deal. Their cap position probably means another year of picking up the journeyman and hoping they step up

Can Boston fans stop pretending that Ullmark has the same value as Mercer?
Can Jersey fans stop pretending that Mercer has the same value as Swayman?
I’d offer Ullmark and our 2025 first for Mercer, but would fully expect Jersey to say no and counter. There are probably half a dozen possible trades that could work for Ullmark.
I don’t believe Sweeney even engages in discussions for Swayman especially now. Unless the objective is to stop discussions and have them focus on other teams, the continued mention of Swayman likely isn’t going to create a positive outcome

PLD Trade makes sense for PIT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>I think most of the Dubois ACGMs on here are pure delusion. I do agree that if Blake moves him, it needs to be re-cooping largely what value was traded to acquire him. Otherwise Blake probably does get terminated so he'll keep Dubois and hope for an improvement over that happening. Especially given the Kings haven't accomplished anything meaningful this year despite a solid overall season.</div></div>
1. Recouping the value of the original trade might be more delusional than the deal posted in this AGM
2. I view Jarry as a negative contract, so I wouldn’t do this deal.
3. LA fans might want to consider that keeping DuBois is just as likely to get Robitaille/Blake fired as trading him. Cutting him probably increases that likelihood. This isn’t the deal, but if you could trade him for a name that could be viewed positively; I could see it improving their job security.

You can easily come to an agreement and sign in 7/1, but I agree that Jersey isn’t trading the 10 for Ullmark alone.
The real question is whether the 2025 first will be more valuable than other options Boston will likely have

LAK and PIT get creative with PLD V2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mike384</b></div><div>No way Pens bring in PLD at basically 10,5M.</div></div>
One of my pet peeves is when fans assume that a player is tradable without retention and add an overpaid players retention on the value of another player.
My perspective is including Jarry is like adding $2 to $3M of retention dollars and the $2M is just normalizing Graves’s contract to something that makes him tradable for nothing
There is a viable argument that even under those assumptions, you wouldn’t want DuBois

Total Reset
Not to criticize, but there are a couple of wingers who should be available via free agency. If we fail to get one, fine. We have the cap position to sign one with the money we’d give Buchnevich who should be next years version of Guentzel.
If anything, Zacha and Coyle’s performance on the dot is being pointed out as something they need to fix

Kevin Bahl is not the answer to any question. You need to find fits with the current defenseman and NJ is going to value him more than Boston should. We acquired Peeke to fill that role and he should do it well.
I do think we need more depth at defenseman because the loss of Peeke has changed the physicality equation though the reason we are losing is we aren’t creating enough offense
If anything, I think this series is going to lead to a long term contract with Lindholm though I’d love to get him on a 1 year, 8.5m contract as a show me option

Only way Ottawa does that is if they believe Norris is done. If they believe he can be healthy, they don’t even consider it.

From my perspective, taking Jarry is like retaining $2 to $3m. Guys literally the walking definition of save what’s expected and nothing more.
I fully expect some goalie desperate team to make Nedeljkovic this years Korpisalo.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Jarry isn't LA's guy, this topic has been beaten to death on here.

Top 25 picks average out to AHL solid starter or good 3rd liner. Please don’t confuse this with the NFL or the NBA. Late first round picks are flyers.
I heard this crap last year. Basic premise, most of the fans of teams that failed that said it have kind of shut up about it. It’s feasible to get a low cost option that emerges at any position. There is a risk and the level of arrogance of teams this year with regards to the goalie position has cost them badly

This years draft is pretty shallow, after pick 15 there really is nobody available i’d trade Ullmark for.
It sounds like a nice haul but the reality it is a bust, a likely 3rd pair ceiling D (1st), and someone who never makes it (3rd)
If Hage or Boisvert still there at 21 might be worth it if not i’d rather a 1st in 25.</div></div>
People overrate the value of a late first round pick in the first place. It’s better than a 2nd round pick, but I value good prospects instead.
The Kings don’t have the cap position to do a deal like this unless a big contract is going back to Boston

Options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Smitty426</b></div><div>To start its a B's poster. Most fans on both sides have more or less agreed on a '25 1st with some type of protection top 10-ish. A small add form Jersey like a 3rd.
I don't know anything about Lysell, but is he honestly worth a 23 year old defender, 2 - 2nds, and another 1st rounder (overdrafted for sure, so say 2nd rounder)? I can answer that, No!
And Fitz is not interested in giving the 10 OA this year. Stick to the trade we all can get with '25 1st for Linus</div></div>
You added Lysell who frankly is better than anything else you are adding to the equation.
Ullmark statistically has been the best goalie in the league over the last two years. Acknowledge that his contract status impacts his value to a degree
To give you context, I would not trade Lysell and Ullmark for Berkly Catton. I would trade 2025 #1 and Ullmark for him.
But I agree that the 2025 first and something of value to overcome the fact that it’s not a 2024 pick likely is the price if it is Jersey.
I’d assume that something of value would be greater than Stillman or atleast younger than him.

Goaler
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tupty</b></div><div>I believe that in an ideal world, we need 2 top 6 F (one for Jake's spot, maybe Jake himself; the other we have platooned 3rd liners all year) and a top 4 LD. Even if we shed Ullmark's salary in full, I think we cannot target top UFAs in all 3 spots and field a competitive roster.
If we bury Husso, that is more than 3.5m in dead cap. To me, that seems far more likely thank carrying ~5.75m in cap space and 2 roster spots for backup goalies right after signing what appers to be a premier starter.
If you do either of those things, I think Don would need to moneyball 1-2 of those roster spots I mentioned, and even that will be much harder compared to this past offseason when good players had their values depressed by the cap crunch.</div></div>
I believe you are going to see Lysell or Lohrei in one of those spots, but I get why you’d prefer not to add Husso. If it were Wallinder or Buium plus a 2nd, I’d rather have that than include Husso and replace the 2nd with a first,

Rebuilding Every Nhl Team 3
Sigenthaler alone isn’t too much at all. Based on the two relative positions, Ullmark is one of the better goaltenders in the league and Sigenthaler is a fringe second liner. I’d rather have Wotherspoon at his salary for the incremental money. My guess is the incremental improvement isn’t worth the extra cash next year
I agree that people are over complicating this. It’s a top 10 protected first in 2025 and whatever it takes to convince the Bruins not to prioritize a 2024 pick instead. Not sure if that is a prospect like Vilen or a 2024 NJD 3rd rounder?
