Red Wings can't afford Guentzel long term.

Yzerman has to give big raises to RFA's Seider and Raymond this summer.

If Stevie is trading Berggren he'll likely be a piece in a trade involving a top 4D like Hanifin or Chychrun.

Berggren isn't struggling - if anything he is very ready to be a regular NHL forward.

That CGY trade makes no sense for the Wings.

If Berg is traded it will be for a young, cost-controlled player or prospect OR someone they can sign long-term - likely someone on D.

CHI would not consider that. They are nowhere near thinking about moving Reichel.

        Frost is interesting.
        Wahlstrom is not.
Don't know much about Toropchenko but his stats don't say amazing bottom 6 forward. Haven't seen him play though and his advanced stats don't seem great. Seems like a bad deal for us.
Chicago probably just keeps Reichel and Berggren isn't struggling.
Detroit can't afford Guentzel long term, so trading this package for a rental is a really bad move. Our defense will get caved first round of the playoffs.
Again can't afford Lindholm's extension. We don't really need a top 6 add although I don't hate the idea of Lindholm. Too much to give up for what would actually be a rental.

Why is Bergrenn in the AHL right now. He has 34 points in 30 games in the AHL and he has 5 pts in 9 games in the NHL...

Is he a defensive liability? His point production does not justify AHL...

Toropchenko isn't necessairly a point scorer, but that might be due to the rest of our bottom six not having legitimate shooters. Toropchenko is 6ft7, can accelerate to really fast burst and forechecks well. He is really nice to have on a fourth line because he can help gain possession through checks, then you rotate in first line.

Yeah I wasn't looking at direct stats, more his advanced stats and they didn't jump off the board. That doesn't always tell the tale of the player of course. We could use a player like him but paying Berggren for him seems like too much.

        Thanks for the feedback.

Bergy produces no matter where he is.

I don't understand why he's not in the NHL?

They like their checking/shutdown line of Rasmussen/Copp/Fischer.

Even Fabbri and Sprong are playing 4th line minutes.

Adding Kane made things even tougher for Bergy.

I keep thinking Yzerman didn't draft Bergy.

        Holland did.

        GM's favor players they draft.

Don't know if this means anything? 🤔

But Yzerman has been on a UFA spending spree for 2 summers now.

I agree with you. In a one for one deal I would take Berg. Torp is a highly specific tool that is very useful for starting cycles, but Berg is overall a better player
