Obviously, Marner at his worst is still an elite player. Samsonov has never been and obviously never will be an elite goalie. However their situations at the surface are similar. Marner has issues between the ears. This isn't new, it's been an issue for Marner. When things aren't going well, he gets in his head and makes a lot of bad decisions. Samsonov gets in his head as well and falls apart. This is the same thing. The only difference is one player is a top 5 RW and the other is a goalie who is not even close to a being elite. So they are different levels of players but the issue is the same. To think otherwise is literal just ridiculous

Why are you getting hung up on the waivers aspect. A goalie loses his confidence and his issues are magnified. A forward loses confidence and his production is hurt. Liljegren is going through the same thing too, mainly because Keefe sucks at coaching defenceman. It's the same issue just different levels of players, getting hung up on "waivers" is literal just dumb it doesn't even make sense.
