I was thinking with McDavid injury, door opened for Matthews to get Hart nomination. For it to happen, he needs to win goal scoring title by 20% over competition - just as MacKinnon and Kuch are about 15% to 20% ahead of the pack.
So in this game, very big step backwards.

Would they play Woll to let him prepare and be sharp - but take him out after a period to reduce chance of injury.
(If they don't play Woll - how long is it from his last appearance to Game 1? 11/12 days without a game).
I thought last year in the last game (or 2) TB sort of went after our goalies.

For me it was the cap hit and that money could be spend better. And that he had definitely hit his peak (and not sure at the time how much the fall would be).

TB is the last game. I would not play the Game 1 goalie against FLA in the regular season game. It's meaningless.
I am now at Woll being the game 1 goalie. 2 bad games in a row (although 2nd half of yesterday was ok) for Sammy created this.
Maybe
FLA = Sammy
TBL = Woll.

Injuries happen but still doesn't mean you shy away from experimenting early in the season but have a solid plan that every player should be locked in on once the season is down to 30 games left.
How long has Keefe been the coach? Every season it seems to be the same song and dance. It's almost like he and the team is on auto pilot early on and then come March they realize "oh **** we need to have a solid plan of how we are going play in the playoffs".
Such a loser mentality..</div></div>
I've seen man-games lost to injury.
How about $-games lost to injury. or point-games lost to injury based on salary $/game OR points/game prior to the injury.

I was slow typing. The key to Goal #1 against Habs was Matthews not touching puck. Should have go an honorary assist for that.
Karma was quick - Matthews has goal # 64

50Leafs 2023 2024 Season Discussion Part 5 - TDL additions (Go Big or Go Small)
If a PP is at 20% and a PK is at 80% - that means for every 5 PP's, a goal can be expected. Since a goal is not always scored at the exact end of the PP, maybe it's better to assume that the goal is scored at the 80 second mark. thus, a goal every 400 seconds, or every 6.7 minutes. Per 60 minutes of PP time, expect to score 9 goals (for the unit, not per player).
Does that stat exist? PP goals for (a plus on the PP) per 60 minutes and PK goals against (a minus on the PK) per 60 minutes. Is there some other stat to show which PK'er or PP'er is doing well?

Tried to play 20mins of hockey to win and failed
Only person to praise is Woll</div></div>
PP + PK should be >= 100% (maybe 105% for a better team).
Today (CAR) = 67% (L)
(EDM) = 93% (W)
(WAS) = 80% (W)
(PHI) = 133% (L)
(CAR) = 60% (L)
(PHI) = 67% (W)
(MTL) = 80% (W)
(BOS) = 85% (L)
(BUF) = 100% (W)
(BOS) = 50% (L)
So in past 10 games, Leafs are 5 Wins, 5 Losses. But in terms of the special teams battle, Leafs are 1 Win, 1 Tie, 8 Losses.
It's another example of making life harder for themselves.
I thought PK was biggest problem heading into the deadline, and result show they didn't address it.

I doubt that's what the leafs wind up doing, but a smart team will pick him up for somewhere around league min and reap the rewards. If we assemble a decent blueline this offseason, I like our odds with Woll and Murray</div></div>

Technically it lost us only 1 point. and the PK gets a lot of credit too.
I actually think 4 on 4 for 10 minutes might make a better OT than 3 on 3.

Last summer Leafs had the decision - shake up the core or keep them all.
There is no doubt that they decided to keep the big 3.
By extension - they decided that being a good regular season team was more important than risking backlash of trading a star, having them prosper elsewhere, and possibly missing playoffs here.
So in the next 4 years - expect good regular season results and playoffs where they will never be favoured to win more than a round.

The 2 vs 3 seed in the Atlantic is going to be a bloodbath, and the Leafs are 8 points behind Boston/Florida and Tampa/Detroit
The annoying thing is that whoever does better between Boston and Florida gets to escape that first round matchup and play a wild card team
However, whoever does better between Tampa and Detroit also gets to avoid that first round matchup, and probably escape the Atlantic entirely
An 8 point gap is difficult to make up without a massive streak (winning or losing) especially with less than 20 games remaining</div></div>
-If NHL Playoffs held today (based on Win% and diff in win % of opponent in brackets):
FLA - DET (.122)
BOS - TOR (.050)
NYR - NYI (.107)
CAR - PHI (.067)
-If 1 vs. 8 in Conf.
FLA - NYI (.138)
BOS - PHI (.107)
NYR - DET (.096)
CAR - TOR (.010)
Current format: Benefits CAR (0.057% easier team) + PHI (0.040% easier team), Hurts BOS (0.057% harder team) + TOR (0.040% harder team).

Not sure what it means, but Lyubushkin is listed as "non-roster". Gio on IR. and Leafs meet the 23 man roster requirement and are compliant.
I suppose he couldn't catch a flight. or has to wrap things up there before coming.
It seems Timmins can be put on LTIR and that will buy them another week when Libby (Boosh?) finally joins.

I think Jones will be here the entire season. With Woll injury and Sammy's mental health - too risky not to have 3rd goalie.
I would suspect Timmins will be LTIR. I think he needs to be off for another week (which is deadline day) to meet the 24 day criteria.
Possibly Robertson sent down, to regain some scoring touch, depending on Timmins return.
Don't know about Gio's status, but they will likely play it week to week depending if another injury happens.
Remember last year they had no goalie for the final 2 games? There will be some "play-it-by-ear" and maybe even send Knies down rather that losing an expected playoff asset on waivers.
