He was our worst asset and we sold really early. Like I've said before the Market sucks right now as no one has cap space to buy, as we get closer to the deadline prices will go up.

Also worth noting that we didn't retain, a 2nd+ was expected on retention. This opens up a lot of cap space for the Flames and we can actually start accruing cap space before the deadline

Lindholm gonna get a 1st+, Hanifin a 1st++, Tanev probably a 1st and a small piece then Dube, Ruzicka, Greer and the rest of the depth guys you are all shopping will get some solid pieces in return, too.

Calgary is gonna get back good assets this is just a start

Only surprising part is that there were no players targeted and strictly picks. Value is what it is and is what a GM was willing to pay. He was the last piece the Flames would have retained on so there’s nothing really out of the ordinary here.

The problem with moving Zadorov was probably that Calgary didn't want to retain on their lowest value asset and that was going to be a problem for any team to take on a 4 mil aav 3rd pairing defenseman. In Vancouver's case, they had to lose Beauvillier to make it work.
