Currently 10 5v5 goals and 58 hits on the stat sheet.

He is very physical and is constantly net front, and has had a share of top 6 minutes to play defense on.

To have 0 penalties so far is elite. Quite uncommon for a young skater to thrive netfront, and especially not be some huge liability on the defensive side.

Bedard took a hit from Brendan Smith and has left game. Looked like he hurt his jaw.

Murphy took a run at Hischier, who was injured on play and has left game.

Winnipeg is cold. In Canada (no offense, but taxes). All of Winnipegs stars either reportedly wanted out (PLD, Logan Stanley, schiefele among others), didn’t want to resign (Hellebyuck among others), or otherwise weren’t super positive (Ehlers). And look where we are today.

Gotta give my respectful admiration for them achieving first in league-wide standings last night. Excellence.

Bonus points that they took Colby Barlow in the 2023 1st round. Was my fav 1st round forward outside of the top 6. (Altho Otto Stenberg was admittedly missed totally).

In this era every single hit on a star is treated like some great criminal offense and then it ruins the rest of the game. It needs to stop. I’m tired of this generation of players overreacting to any hit.

I think there are…

A. Clear illegal hits
B. Borderline illegal hits that are unintentional
C. Borderline legal hits but with intent to injure
D. Clean hits intended impede a player with puck

The “A” group usually gets called (if seen). The “B” category gets called frequently where the “C” category never gets called. If you want refs to go by letter-of-the-law, that should be the norm. But when some of these games get out of hand…or there is clearly retribution event…the refs need to be able to use their discretion to call “C” as penalties.

The US Supreme Court has said the difference between art and porn are ‘you know it when you see it’…that no apt definition can be written. I think similar standard should apply here.
