For Columbus I'm making some assumptions:

1. Jarmo is feeling some pressure after the whole Babcock situation and need to show so progress this year.

2. Jarmo realizes that it will be difficult to compete in 3-4 years with Severson/Johnny/Merz all post their prime/overpaid taking up $20M+ in cap.

3. Columbus still highly valued Marner. Rumour was they offered him $13M when he was an RFA.

Gives Vancouver someone to replace Myers on D with high upside. Another forward prospect with a low ceiling but who has played in the NHL and likely is a 3rd/4th liner in future. Jones is a decent backup so their young guys can stay in Abbotsford.

A 1st for Garland at this stage is a W. Retention is about 35% instead of 50% as well. I feel Garland can be replaced for less than 3.2M in Vancouver's lineup so this saves them cap space.
