No, we don't.

We get lots of cap space and the second best hockey player in the world.

What we're giving up is two players with a lengthy injury history, a player possibly implicated in scandal and a late 1st round pick.

I think it's a good deal for Ottawa.

Nashville’s doing its own rebuild. Paying futures to acquire Nurse so we can pay him more than Roman Josi and play him 2nd pairing is a nonstarter. Also, Hyman in nashville reverts back to 50 point mode which is fine for his caphit but of little interest to me.

We'd be getting 2 years of a super talented player who would probably get 100 points in Ottawa, not 125. And we'd be sacrificing a huge amount of depth for one player.

1. It would be more like a whole decade because Timmy Stu would convince him to stay before he hits free agency.

2. The only stumbling block to this trade would be Draisaitl's 10 team trade list.

3. Edmonton IRL would never trade Draisaitl anyway.

Which brings me to my next point, I don't care how good Draisaitl is, I'm not spending $13 million on one player.

Quick easy no from Ottawa

Draisaitl has 2 years left and will get a SUBSTANTIAL raise

As good as he is offensively, Norris is also a top goal scorer but is much better defensively.

Yes getting Leon is great but even if you ignore their age + contracts, upgrading Norris to Draisaitl would cost :

- Batherson who is making UNDER 5.0 AAV. Crazy valuable contract if you want to contend
- Chychrun, look at the acquisition cost...
- another 1st round pick (which was 75% value of DeBrincat return)

Not interested in this at all.

Well, there's a lot of IFs in that.

Of course IF Batherson is banned from hockey and Norris + Chychrun are never healthy again you make this deal easily. We don't have that information right now.

Awesome.

Then the best players in the world like McDavid, Draisaitl, Matthews, MacKinnon, etc will never want to play for you.

Who cares about yearly increases to the salary cap, amirite?

And those four players combined for exactly one Stanley Cup. You need depth much more than $13 million players to win the cup.

You and @sens65 are getting wound up over someone having an opinion on a trade that will never happen.

Never mind the fact that the Oilers would never trade Draisaitl.

Never mind the fact that some random Leafs fan used this AGM to turn a cup-contending Oilers team into a train wreck.

Never mind the fact that this AGM is probably a troll post.

This conversation is over.

Have a nice day.

I see but it could still have been discussed. We could find reasons to say each proposal on CF will never happen. We're just discussing hockey in the end

Have a nice day too!
