You wouldn't believe how many aggregator sites there are spewing random Hab related trade offers and speculation right now on the internet. I guarantee their ideas contribute to at least half the wacky trade proposals you see on here.

The worst part is, those sites/posts are constructed in a way that the source is often just a random blogger/social media personality opinion but the title will be written in a way that at first glance sounds like it is a confirmed rumour. The viewer, 85% of the time doesn't get to the end of the article to see the actual source is just some blogger and voila...... rumour of KH refusing Anderson for Nemec and a 1st is born and ppl just eat it up. Its only natural someone will bring it to CF to test out its validity.

When the source is NOT just a random blogger/Twitter personality, etc, and is an actual journalist, it often comes from a recently posted article of theirs in which they are simply implying or offering suggestions. The aggregator site then comes in regurgitates what was said and phrases it like "X team is interested in acquiring Jake Evans!" When in fact the journalist simply pointed out that Edmonton may be looking to add a depth centerman and MTL may be looking to move out one of theirs. Boom! Evans to Edm E4!..... rolling eyes

Then throw on the fact that "trolling" exists and you get ppl, who probably don't actually think Anderson for Nemec+1st is fair or realistic, but will argue its merits just for the "lolz". The simple fact that you put the effort into writing this post up is stoking the fire of the thing you're probably annoyed with to begin with.

1-Nemec for Anderson is completely false no gm is that dumb.
2- Kent Hughes was offered a 1st round pick for Anderson ( team that we don’t know ) but he rejected.
3- Before the draft, he had an offer that looked like this : 5TH PICK AND PRIMEAU FOR ASKAROV AND 15TH PICK. Rejected because they were high on Reinbacher. Arizona were going to take him at 6 And Nashville tried trading up for Reinbacher not Michkov.
4- He had also an offer from Detroit involving Cossa and #9 but he declined.
5- The Habs Scouts were pushing for him to keep the pick because they loved Reinbacher.
6- Kent Hughes never had the intention to pick Michkov at 5#. He was just bluffing to see what the other teams could offer for that #5

I dunno about the others, but the Preds one is real. And I’m glad it got turned down. Don’t get me wrong, Reinbacher (or whoever else we could have taken) would be great, but I think i’d rather have Wood, Askarov, and Molendyk

let's see, that was end of January...I was in Peru. Why do you ask?

        Peru? I hear it’s nice.

Back in November, a Habs blogger/podcaster had a bit where he said “Devils want Anderson badly” and suggested NJD offered up some top prospects (and then some) for him.

“They’re not trading Jack Hughes and they’re not trading Nico Hischier. I don’t know how much they’d be willing to give up, but they have some players that are not on this team right now. I’m talking about defenseman Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec, Alexander Holtz”

Some Habs fans ran with it and a long series of wild proposals commenced. Later, closer to deadline, a report suggested that Hughes had been offered a 1st for Anderson…some conflated the two together, and somehow it became “Kent Hughes rejected that massive Devils offer”.

Don’t blame this on me…there was a lot of Habs bandwidth spent on telling Devils fans this was true (we knew it wasn’t). Almost bizarre now to hear people on this thread now say it was crazy…(I believe one of ‘em may have been responsible for Bratt/Nemec for Anderson ACGM).

Peru is beautiful with amazing food. Best food in the world. Lima itself not so nice.

More nonsense. Why do so many fans believe what writers/reporters say in their money making media outlets? They lie, they are just trying to be relevant.
And certainly a GM isn't going to tell a reporter what deals he had offered and being rejected by one party. Other GMs would never deal with that GM again.

        Lol.

We definetly know the Nashville one is true cause it's in the habs behind the scenes show they post on YouTube.

Pretty sure the Detroit one is as well.

Cossa isn't physical enough for his standards, have to move him.

Everyone knows Yakov Trenin is a better goalie anyway

Don’t blame this on me…there was a lot of Habs bandwidth spent on telling Devils fans this was true (we knew it wasn’t). Almost bizarre now to hear people on this thread now say it was crazy…(I believe one of ‘em may have been responsible for Bratt/Nemec for Anderson ACGM).

Not blaming anyone. Simply stating you may be exacerbating the problem was my only point with that. You know, the whole "rent free" trope?

The truth is a lot of fans just parrot what these sites say without reading the source and just assuming it was an actual rumour. If there is such a thing.

Oh also, I noticed that fans embellish more than what was actually stated in the rumour too. The Nashville one for example was not Askarov + 14 + 24. It was Askarov+. The plus was speculated to be a 1st but was never actually mentioned in the "confirmed" rumour. Simply that there was more added to Askarov.
