No I don't think so. We just can't have him right now. We have Slaf/Newhook/Monahan/Hoffman/Caufield who can all potentially play LW.
Its poor asset management to give 3 future pieces to make a logjam worse.
We just have too many wingers.
Don't forget Heineman and Roy could crack this roster in Oct 23 or Oct24
Well, let me break it down for you:
1) The 2nd round is pick 56-64 IMO, so not really so bad
2) Engstrom is a delightful surprise and shows tons of promise, but it's at a position where we are stacked and organizationally the following players are ahead of him: Matheson, Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Hutson, Struble, Trudeau. That basically means 4 guys need to not make it or be traded for him to play regular minutes
3) Farrell is a nice future NHL player, but he's another skill guy without the physical attributes to round out the package. We can't play him in our top 6 if we want to win in the playoffs. He might help us get to the playoffs, but I doubt he helps us get through the playoffs
4) Evans is a good piece. I value him at like a 3rd
So it's a late 2nd, a bottom 4 LD prospect, a top 6 prospect in a small package, and a 4th line center. The Habs should do this all day.
