Not really sure what you mean lol, they trade Murray or but him out that opens up space depending on how much Domi costs. Maybe they go and trade Brodie who knows.

Don't think he's eligible for performance bonuses and it wouldn't make sense for the Leafs to kick the can down the road to when Matthews and Nylander need new contracts.

They're really investing in those all offense, no defense type players. God save Samsonov and whoever is his backup.

They'll also be 2.5 Million over the Cap and still have to sign Samsonov. Interesting position. They have 500k in offseason space, so they can't even resign Samsonov until they trade someone.

They got a pretty healthy mix

Matthews lead the lead in blocked shots
Marner was in the final 3 of Selke votes
Kampf is a prime defensive guy

Lafferty, Knies, Holmberg, and Jarnkrok also are guys who can play at both ends pretty well and PK

JT, Bertuzzi, Nylander and Domi focus more on offense

Reaves hitting people

Defense its

Rielly and Klingberg for offense though in playoffs Reilly did make some strong 2-way plays

Brodie is mostly for defense along with Giordano

McCabe and Liligren both 2-way guys

So a good healthy mix its not gonna be like ANA where there was no defense whatsoever

Muzzin is rn on LTIR

As posted by Pappetti Leafs had 5.3 with Muzzin on LTIR (= Bertuzzi) and factor a Murray move (LTIR or trade) and Timmins send down/trade they would have almost 12mill

Now Samsonov can get 3.4-4mill

They probably should have done those moves BEFORE they put themselves over the cap. Now they just made the price of a cap dump more expensive for themselves. Every team in the league knows they have to shed cap

Toronto has 89 Million in cap space and are currently at 91.5, They still have to sign Samsonov on top of that. So they half to shed roughly 5 Million to be cap compliant

I did this exact thig with Domi signed. Toronto is currently 1.6 Million over the cap limit and Samsonov isn't signed. So you need to lose 1.6 Million + Whatever Samsonov signs for in order to be compliant

My suspicion is he will either sign a Georgiev like deal or something like Korpisalo but less term.

I have no idea rn as goalie contracts be all over the place rn will probs see it within the next few weeks
