sign and trade 6x$9.5. I think if he gets a matching AAV to vasi he could be talked down on full term which long run is probably mutually beneficial.

WPG
  1. Byfield, Quinton
  2. Iafallo, Alex
Détails additionnels:
Someone on twitter said byfield isn't playing to expectations which had the unfortunate coincidence of being put out at the same time WPG and LA were being linked over dubois. Dubois advances the timeline of competitiveness to fit squarely during Anze's golden years. Valardi seems like an obvious replacement but picks or other prospects would likely be asked for and I believe Valardi to fit better with LA's new timelines (I think he's shown he's middle-six material for sure).
LAK
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc
Détails additionnels:
Byfield seems like he would be better off growing with responsibility being thrust upon him and there's no greater responsibility then playing 2nd line center for a Jet's team post-Helly.

This, I think is more in line with the Jet's commitment to be as mid as the organization can stomach while still also being as bad as they ought to be for being forced to sell on a number of players at the end of a long window.

I think hedging and adding picks or other assets makes the trade worse for LA. They only lose one player worth anything and get proven results that are only 4 years older than the replaced player. If LA fans hate this idea then Valardi+turcotte and 2024 1st but probably no cap dump type asset would be needed.

      BUF
      1. Scheifele, Mark (3 050 000 $ retained)
      Détails additionnels:
Retention probably gives the jets a pick. Scheifele honestly will blow up at least for the first year with a new club where he isn't THE GUY. He's proven in the past to be a good compliment player especially when he has to player with better players than him.

The issue from LA has never necessarily been “what do we have to give up?”. It’s always been “how do we build a competitive team with Dubois making ~9M?”, which just isn’t possible without gutting the team of depth and using a bunch of middling NHL players to make the cap work.

Making this trade leaves the Kings no space to address other needs they have like a starting goalie and LD without FURTHER stripping the forward core of talent. It just isn’t a great scenario for them.

Buffalo would be more interested in Pionk than Scheifele. That isn't to say that they would have interest in Pionk but they are looking for a top 4 RD mentor for Power.

Trading their current 3C for Scheifele doesn't make roo much sense, if they push Cozens down, that's a 7M 3C. If they put any on the wing then they need to acquire a 3C.

Scheifele as the third line center would be awesome.
Casey has a really good future, but this is a low ball price and the Sabres should accept the trade.

Byfield spent the last third of the season playing LW on the first line with Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe, so I don't think playing on the second line in Winnipeg is thrusting greater responsibility on him. He's doing fine for a kid who is the youngest player on the Kings roster and would be the youngest player on yours. We don't want to abuse prospects by rushing them the way that the Rangers have abused Kakko and LaFreniere.

We're not trading him. And Dubois is a horrible fit for the Kings, as my esteemed friend @GabeVilardiFanAccount has set forth above.

Yes, we need a RD partner for Power

But we’d ABSOLUTELY do the Scheifele deal imo,
unless we just feel he’s too much of a cancer in the room
At that Cap hit, I’d do it anyways though,
      & i like Mittelstadt

      As for needing another 3C,
you’re pretty far off base with your thinking
1- we have Krebs, who was a 1st round pick a few years back & a guy we really like- he was a “must have” part of the Eichel trade & could slot into the 3C spot quite easily
2- we also drafted 3- yes, THREE- Centers in the 1st round a couple drafts ago- 2 of which (Kulich & Savoie) look very close to being ready for the NHL

At half off, u guys would probably have a decent amount of suitors for him that u could get a better return
But as a Sabres fan, I’d do this deal in a heartbeat

Yeah, at that price they would take Scheifele, but I'm almost certain that he wouldn't be available for that price, especially with retention which is why I talked about his fit as a player more than the mock trade.

You're certainly right about Krebs being able to take that 3C spot. I forgot about Krebs, think he was playing on the 4th line for you guys last year? That would actually make sense in terms of giving him a better chance. As for Kulich and Savoie, doubt they would rush them into the NHL just to play 3C. They are better off letting those guys cook in the AHL even if they look NHL-ready.

Speaking of Kulich and Savoie, those are probably guys the Jets would want in a Scheifele trade lol, not Mittlestadt unless he's just a cap component. Something like Kulich/Savoie+ a 2nd/3rd + Mittlestadt which would be a steep price for a guy that they don't need.

I agree that Schiefele likely costs more, especially at half off
And Krebs did (kinda) play on our “4th line” last year,
but that was really our 3rd line which got all the tough defensive assignments (& he held his own quite nicely in that role), playing with Okposo (Captain) & Girgensons (who wore an “A”) for most of the season

      In the end,
I agree with you that Schiefele likely costs more than we’d be willing to part with

Our focus seems to be on a RD partner for Power & possibly a goalie (we’ve talked to the Jets about Hellebuyck)
