two big moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Could be a bobrovsky to Florida type scenario with sometime to decide, I believe there is a 4 year window, where the right veteran makes sense to share the crease with Levi and any other kid option competing, do you offer up larger for hart and have a extended tandem run hopefully in the budget, or Gibson that probably fits the term and money pretty well perfectly, or do you jump the line on helly and possibly buy 6 months to decide on the extension, because not in the running when the contract runs out. The need is definitely there, just the best course of action is questionable on assets to needed to acquire and budget going forward. Interesting quandary</div></div>
Tough to say what would happen
I am confident we have plenty of pieces the Jets would want
Not so confident we’d agree to the length of the extension that Hellebuyck would want

If he would agree to something like a 3 year extension,
then i think the Sabres would be on board
My guess is that he’d want more years though

Yeah, Mitts was a top10 pick for a reason
He was finally able to stay healthy for a full season,
& it showed

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DDossett</b></div><div>Maybe buffalo takes that deal but probably not. Mitts is the best value piece they have and need to get a players to replace him that is as good and fills weaknesses such as face offs. The picks are that valuable to us with oir current prospect pool. You might be better of offering johansen at 50% if your just gonna bury him on your 3rd line wing.</div></div>
I couldn’t disagree with you more
The last thing the Sabres would want is Johansen
Picks would be fine, especially with all the forward talent we have coming soon

two big moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SKWPG</b></div><div>I 100% believe that Helly and his agent will be allowed to speak with any team that WPG and Helly believe will make good trading partners. If Helly feels like it's a team he would sign long term with and that team speaks with him and they have an understanding in principle, the deal would be made based on those conversations. It would be unwritten in the contract or somehow put in there as a deal like... Helly for Krebs and Luukkonen. If Helly signs an extension before the draft, WPG receives the 2023 1st round pick (BUF). If he doesn't sign by then, but signs before the next draft than WPG receives the 2024 1st round pick (BUF). If Helly doesn't resign at all, then the deal stays as it is with Krebs and Luukkonen. Something like that. All parties "know" that Helly is signing a deal with BUF now, so win win win.</div></div>
U missed my point
Hellebuyck will presumably want a long term extension
Doubtful the Sabres will want to give a long term extension to a 31 year old goalie

If Hellebuyck was signed for more than a year, I’d agree
However, idk that the Sabres are gonna want to give up what it would take to get him u less there was an extension involved
And idk that the Sabres would be willing to go as many years as Hellebuyck would likely want
Don’t think it’s as cut & dry as it seems on the surface

I don’t see how the Sabres could give all that up for him unless there was an extension involved
And if Hellebuyck was willing to sign an extension as part of the trade- would the Sabres agree to the length of the extension he would want?
Idk about that
He’s 31, and if he’s looking for 5-7 years, idk that the Sabres would do that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PHEN</b></div><div>Yeah I don’t think it is important for players as it was in the past to play on their shooting side. They may add another right shot on D but I am fine with 5-1 and Lybb being a right shot and 7 Dman</div></div>
The overwhelming majority of Coaches & GMs disagree with you though
Sure, some guys can play well on their offhand side
But that’s not ideal
Is there another lineup in the league that has 5 LH and only 1 RH shot as their top6 defensemen?
I highly doubt it

Although personally,
if Donnie G keeps playing him in the Top6 i will lose it
Greenway is a 4th liner
Playing him up the lineup is nonsense

The Buffalo trade
Sabres trade is LAUGHABLE dude
1- we have no use for Raddysh
2- the 5th round pick has little to no value
3- we aren’t gonna overpay for Murphy
4- Peterka is very unlikely to get moved
We are loaded with young forward talent,
so 1st thing you’d have to do is take Raddysh outta the deal,
as we’d just have no interest at all
Maybe we’d give you a 2nd & Olofsson for Murphy & a 3rd
But something like that is gonna be the absolute most i could see us giving
You’re just asking way too much

Alright
Don’t think the Sabres would wanna move Greenway
But i do think we’d consider Trouba at 5.5mil per
Idk that NYR would wanna hold that 2.5mil in Cap though,
so might need to find a 3rd team (ARZ ? Lol) to make the deal work

Sabres only consider if we like Lindstrom
Don’t see us having any interest at all in Velano
And i don’t see us looking to move UPL
I think we’d move him (potentially) for the right price,
but otherwise i think we are also happy to keep developing a talented young goalie

Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>Or a bidding war that drives up the price 😁</div></div>
There’s only so much the Sabres will be willing to pay though
As good as Hellebuyck is, there’s also some concerns with acquiring him:
1- we are a very young team, & he just turned 30
2- he’s only signed for 1 more year- even if he will extend, he could want more years than we’d wanna give a 30year old goalie
3- Sabres mgmt LOVES Devon Levi, & Levi looked good for us at the end of this past season (when we signed him)- so we could just wanna see more from Levi before we’d decide to make a move for a Vet starter

Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Howie</b></div><div>It's fair if there's either a bidding war or willing to extend</div></div>
As of now, we don’t know either of those to be true though
There aren’t too many teams that can take on Hellebuyck’s full Cap Hit
If- and that’s a big IF- he is willing to sign an extension (at a reasonable number), then i think the Sabres would consider this deal
As a Sabres fan, I’d be down
But the Sabres Mgmt does like Levi A LOT,
and have considered him to be our “goalie of the future” for a while now
So it’s possible that the Sabres would drop out of trade talks if there is a bidding war & the price gets too high
Our GM has been showing patience with his version of the rebuild- and it’s working- so he very well could wanna give Levi the year & see how things go
