My best Guess
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>I don't see Montreal players with the want bias you do, I see then as they actually are. He's a bottom pairing (at best) defenseman. As you say maybe even a career AHL'er. He's not returning a bottom 6 forward and a high 2nd. Two teams have given up on Barron now and he can't crack one of the worst defenses on a team with very little depth. He has no value to a good team with excellent defense like Winnipeg. Both pieces on their own have more value than Barron.
Barron needs waivers to be sent down next season as I understand from Montreal fans and what Cap Friendly says, so he'll and up on waivers next season at some point.</div></div>
Thats just a bad take. Barron will be a regular next year. Kovacevic and Harris/Struble will be traded, Savard too at the deadline. RHD is the highest valued asset in the league and Barron hasnt been perfect but hasnt been bad at all. They've used the fact he wasnt waiver eligible because they have 8 nhl caliber defenseman and need to rotate, but they'll clearly make room this summer. The 3 starting RHDs should be Reinbacher, Barron and Mailloux by the end of next year. I dont think they'll trade him, he's more valuable on the ice than what he can get on the market (which would be more than rasumus "1 assist in 27 games" kupari)

Price for Necas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>What? Why would Carolina bring Skjei back? It's why they signed Orlov. Pesce's not going to sign, he's rejected reasonable offers. They can keep all four of Jarvis, Necas, Guentzel and Teravainen. They don't need another D man since Nikishin becomes a factor at the end of next year, so they need a one-year stop gap. Morrow fills in for Pesce, and you can find third pairing D men in free agency at a dime a dozen, or give the kids a shot.</div></div>
And how do you resign Slavin, Orlov and Burns (if he doesnt retire) the year after?

What would the Flames give up for Tij Iginla
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>No problem if you take Iginla before us that means at least one of Lindstrom, Yakemchuk, Dickinson or Catton should be available for us to take instead. Most Flames fans would agree at least 2 of those guys should be taken instead of Tij anyhow though we don't all agree on which 2.
Or if your Habs could win a few games they'd probably pass us in the standings and we'd be picking before them anyhow.</div></div>
Chances are both Habs and Flames get a couple of points until the end of the season, realistically Habs will be in the 6th to 8th spot and Flames in the 8th to 10th-11th spot. Yakemchuck may be there at 10 but not there other ones...

What would the Flames give up for Tij Iginla
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>At the end of the day, Turbo, Skjei, Pesce, TDA can all be replaced. Worst case scenario, Jarvis can be bridged which would free up a bit more cap space. Goalie is of no issue with Freddie, PK, and Martin. If a contender is incapable of replacing, what are at the end of the day, support pieces, they probably shouldn’t be a contender. Whilst losing Skjei and Pesce in particular will hurt, Orlov and Chatfield will help mitigate that loss until Nikishin and Morrow are ready for more substantial workloads. As much as it seems like doom and gloom for the Canes, they are in a much better position than people seem to think.
So there is no reason for the Canes to take a half assed package for Necas. If someone wants him, they are meet the Canes demands or they aren’t getting Necas, simple as that.</div></div>
If I was the Canes I'd move Necas in a one for one trade for a top 4 D, only problem is there isnt much quality defenseman with low contracts around the league. Someone like Andersson or Weegar in Calgary could be good targets, I just dont think the Canes would want Matheson from the Habs and I dont think the Habs are ready to give up Ghule. Canes could also trade Winnipeg's 1st for a middle 6 forward, so they get forward at depth, on D and in the crease while resigning Jarvis, Guentzel, maybe Skjei and/or Teravainen. I really don't think they can keep all 3 of Necas, Guentzel and Jarvis.
The way I see it, it's important to accumulate some assets if you want to have the flexibility of managing all that. I dont see how Jarvis takes a bridge, he has earned his money. You don't have much assets to move and if you're tight against the cap again next year, how do you resign Slavin?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>The notion that the Canes will have a hard time signing Necas is so untrue it’s funny. They have the cap space to comfortably sign Jarvis, Guentzel, and Necas to long term extensions if they want to.
That being said, unless a team is giving up actual quality pieces, Canes aren’t moving Necas. That proposal simply isn’t enough.</div></div>
But then you are losing Pesce, Skjei and DeAngelo. Brent Burns is already 39, Orlov and Slavin are both UFAs next year and Slavin is gonna get a bag. Still no goalie unless Kochektov steps up, and you still need a back-up.
Canes will need to be creative and other teams wont just help them. I think it's fair value for Necas, Canes are gonna have to rely on young players like Morrow, Nadeau and Nikishin, but they also need to bring in new bodies if they wan't to remain a contender. We all thought Guentzel would bring in a nice package, yet is was kinda underwhelming because Pittsburgh didnt have much leverage. Here, the Canes have at least two young NHL players and they can get a nice prospect like Parascak at 24.
Maybe they do decide to sacrifice (a lot) of defense, I'm just not sure its the way to go for them.

TDL and next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>"Turcotte can't seem to crack the Kings lineup."
False. He started on the Kings top line with Kopitar and Byfield as recently as the last game against Vancouver. And looked good there doing it.
I'll grant you that there's a bit of a roster squeeze when healthy, but this season has never been about Turc being on the roster full time. It's been about him staying healthy and playing a lot of hockey, which he can do better on the Reign. But next year Lizotte and Grundstrom likely won't return, and the Kings will decide what to do with Jaret Anderson-Dolan, so there's a few open roster spots on the Kings. I fully expect Alex to be a full-time NHL'er in 24-25. (Probably along with Akil Thomas as well)</div></div>
If you say so, feels like at this point its a good opportunity for the Kings to use the value he has left to improve in other areas.
I'm personnally not that much intersted in him, but we dont have room for Harris or Struble and the move would make sense in terms of positionnal needs.

Imo we'll need to trade Matheson sooner than later especially if they draft another defenseman this year. I think Hutson and Ghule will be able to share Matheson's responsabilites, especially for like 20 games.
Imo Hutson will play on the 1st PP pretty quickly. Matheson eats big minutes big is a liability defensively, at this point, Ghule will be ready to step up and it gives enough ice to foe Hutson to build confidence and chemistry on the PP.

Regarding the following:
<em>- Dvorak, Armia, Kovacevic, Savard, Evans all shipped at the deadline for a total haul that should be around a last 1st, two 3rds, a 4th and a 5th or the equivalent in terms of prospects (its gonna be picks imo).</em>
Can you provide a more detailed break down of value here? I think it's hard to predict anything at this point, but their should be interest in all of these players.</div></div>
Oc its hard to predict next year, but I think as pending UFAs, Savard can get a 1st, Dvorak retained for close to a 2nd/3rd in value, Evans 3rd and Kovacevic around 4th round. It will also depend on Reinbacher, Hutson and Beck being ready to assume a bigger role for 20 ish games.

Not the point, it just shows that there are multiple factors that we dont know about, value isnt absolute like people here pretend it is and GMs have different perspectives/visions for their team.
You proved my point by looking at his hockeydb and thinking its an absolute steal when in reality, he has been sheltered all his career and is a defensive liability. I wouldve thought he can fetch a better pick, but if thats all Minny got then that means no one wanted to pay a higher price (considering cap space as well).
I cant stand people who comment on posts like they have some kind of authority over decisions. State your opinion, fine, but most people here act like children. "I dont think ___ would do this" comes across so much better than "they would never do this". You dont know that, thats my point.
