Columbus easily passes. There is a world where they trade the 3rd overall for a centre. But it is highly unlikely. And they definitely won't do it for a 34 year old.

Couture is a very nice player but not at the expense of the 3rd OA.

I would honestly consider that, if Columbus threw in another asset or two. Hertl + Karlsson 25% from Sharks 25% from elsewhere for 3OA + a second or a decent prospect?

That would be the ultra all-in trade for CBJ and the ultimate rebuild trade for SJ. We can dream but a trade like that is just too large to happen.

It's a high quality AGM trade, though. Blue Jackets get jump-started back into being a good team, Sharks get to commit to their rebuild with roughly a trillion dollars in cap space and a bunch of young guys to build around.
