    Détails additionnels:
Carolina weaponizes their cap and gets a potential lottery pick for next year. Merzlikins could also be solid in a tandem with Kochetkov. I could see why the Canes wouldn't do it, but I could see why they would as well.

    2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (CBJ)
    Détails additionnels:
A risky move for CBJ, but they need the money off the books to move Werenski back onto the roster. You made this bed, CBJ; now you must lie in it.

Chicago passes. They have a logjam of defensive prospects who need playing time and Bean has little upside at this point

That Elvis and First is an okay deal for me considering he's a backup option for Kocketkov, that pick should still be top 10 and he should be better behind the Hurricanes' system

In my opinion, I think CBJ is better off seeing how Elvis plays behind his revamped defense core before attaching a first round pick to him to move the contract. Especially to only save 300K.

Columbus has plenty of cap room to get Werenski off IR and keep Elvis, they just need to be smart and not trade for that horrific Miller contract.

Also Werenski is on IR, not LTIR. On IR the whole contract is against the cap.

Is 5.4M cheap for backup goaltenders?

I feel like the Canes take that deal and run especially if they can get another vet to sign a friendly deal. Would almost certainly flip that pick I would think.

Why would the Jackets pay a first to move a contract just to go out and spend $13M on players that are not going to take them to the next level? Let it ride this year and can always put elvis on waivers like the kings did with Peterson. There is no reason to make this move right now.

My thinking is that with the $5.4m saved, they could go after a much more consistent starter like Varlamov, even though he's older. Plus, CBJ seems like they are betting on themselves. Therefore, if the first is in the late teens or early twenties, I don't think it is an egregious price to pay.

Even though that pick is more likely to be in the 8-12 range

Yeah, tbh, I get the IR and LTIR thing confused all the time. If they don't go after Miller, though, they need someone. No offense to Boone Jenner, but I don't think you're making the playoffs with him as the first-line center.

Retention or not, Gudbranson doesn't address a positional need for Seattle this season and committing to the term on his deal is still unappealing. Unlikely.

Paying a first just to turnaround and pay varly is bad asset management. Jackets will see how Elvis does in front of a better defense

I don’t disagree, but there are cheaper options like Kuznetsov or Hayes that can fill the same role until Carlsson or Sillinger or Johnson is ready to be the 1c.

Just can't see Vancouver trading Miller unless a center is coming back for the following reasons:

    - Lack overall center depth
    - Currently don't have a 3C
    - If they trade Miller, don't have 2C
    - Not a great UFA class for centers
    - They want to make the playoffs next season

Yeah, maybe you could do Sillinger and a pick instead of Mateychuk. However, there is no chance the Canucks make the playoffs next year IMO with or without Miller. Considering how strong the Metro is, I think it is unlikely this team does. However, I would say Colombus has a better chance.

For over 5 million per, a sub .900 goalie, and 4 more years? Needs to be a lot more. 24 draft isn’t good

I mean besides this season he's been .907+ goalie... I'm personally in the take-a-flyer on the guy and if you need to flip him at the trade deadline... flip him

I definitely think Vancouver jumped the gun on trying to make the playoffs, personally I think they should have sold assets and waited another 2-3 years. With that said, they are going to try to make improvements this offseason, without significant ones I agree that they wont be making the playoffs next season.
