Chevy should be no where near the inevitable rebuild, which lets face it, should have started last year. More important is getting Chipman away from the day to day operations of the team and hiring a President of Operations.
I realize that these trades below are just a fantasy, but the gist of the direction we should go.
Out- Helly, PLDouchebag, Scheifele, Pionk, Heinola, Conner, Wheeler, Stanley, Gus, 18OA, 27OA
In- Kuzy, Krebs, UPL, Newhook, Barron, Hoffman, Zadina, Nemec, 11OA, 13OA, 37OA, 40OA 43OA.
Jets draft Leonard, Orville Redenbacher, Oskar Fiskar-Molgaard, Hunter Bruzkewhatever and one of Hrabal, Augustine or Bjarnsson.
Jets draft another goalie in the later rounds and one in every draft from here on in. They focus on adding some size as we have had a run on injuries of our smaller guys.
Helly is the first domino to fall after indicating he won’t re-up in Winnipeg. Lake Ontario and Erie has some great fishing, not like in Winnipeg, but good nonetheless
Helly extends. This allows Levi to simmer in the A and develop slowly like goalies should. While his short sample size looked good, how many goalies come from playing 35 or so games in college right into a starting role in the NHL? It just doesn’t happen. Getting Helly instantly makes the Sabres a playoff team and he can mentor Levi and help him through his inevitable rough patches. After a few years of working on his physical and mental game he comes in as a backup role and slowly takes over the starting role. Doing this properly gives the Sabres 10+ years of outstanding tending.
With the FLA pick dropping from potential lotto pick to 31/32, Montreal gives up Barron as Dach is untouchable. This lets Montreal keep both 1sts in this deep draft.
This one hurts, but Connor made it abundantly clear he has zero interest in a rebuild. Jets take a huge risk in Nemec panning out, but you need to give to get and Nemec fits the timeline of a rebuild. Unsure if the Devils would need to add a cap casually but Jets could/would add to balance out the trade
I’m not sure of the values here, some constructive criticism would be appreciated
Getting KFC gives the devils some options with Bratt given the history of negotiations.
NJD has lots of wingers and really don't want the cap of Connor...though he's on a nice contract. Nemec is just too good give up.....Six years of control verses three years
Winnipeg certainly has better ice finishing. I dunno if the Sabres want to overpay for Hellebuyck as a UFA, the have their RFA contract coming up, and really is Hellebuyuck that special? Look at the good UFAs goalies available this year.
Can't see Canucks moving down for that. They also have a logjam of young LHD (Rathbone, Hirose, D Petey) and don't need to move anyone to be under the cap with Poolman LTIRetired. If Jets were interested in Garland, a mid pick and Dillon makes sense to pair with Hronek to see if Hirose or D Petey are ready next year.
Canucks decline. They aren't paying to dump Garland and have no need for Heinola. We have enough young LHD vying for the 3rd pair spot with Rathbone, Hirose, and Pettersson all there as well as Dermott if we resign him. Without Myers, OEL is our only defenceman above 6 foot, the last thing we need is more small defencemen.

Would Boeser and his larger cap hit be worth moving for. I just remember reading recently that they may possibly be looking to move cap and utilizing 11OA to do it. I was just thinking it could be a win win. FWIW, Heinola also plays the right side.

I get that. Nemec looks great. I was just thinking with the Bratt thing, that Connor would fit nicely
No shade at helly, the Sabres dont move first rounders/top prospects. Just isnt a deal that fits the GMs risk profile.
Understandable, but at some point there needs to be that flip from rebuild to contender and you guys seem to be just hitting that point.
I do get it though, but I could definitely see some variation of this that could work for both teams. You guys could lose a pick or good prospect and really not miss a beat

I dont disagree with any of that, but the GM doesn't believe that. The Sabres aren't moving first round picks or top prospects as long as Adams is GM.

If the Bratt thing turns south...we'd probably just trade Bratt for another winger.
Nemec is a future cornerstone...we have plenty of other trade chips to improve.
Connor on Hughes line would be nice though.
(and the Jet who is probably on NJD radar is Niederreiter)

Canucks are looking to clear cap. Boeser, along with Garland and Myers seem like the ones to be on the block. Boeser's value probably sits around a 2nd. He's been a pretty consistent 20 goal scorer sitting around the 50 point range. He's hit 20 goal 4 of his 6 seasons in the league, with the 2 years he didn't being 2020 where the season was cut short due to covid, and this year, where he had 18 goals (he was on pace to hit 20 in a full 82 games both seasons he didn't hit the mark). His downfall comes in the defensive zone, where to be blunt he is not good. He could be a good player to buy low on with the hopes he can put all the pieces together, as he still very much has the potential to become a 30 goal scorer.
As for the part about them willing to move pick 11 to do so, I don't buy it. It seems a lot more like speculation rather than actual insider information. I have yet to see those rumours actually come from a credible source. To me, it more or less seems like those rumours of the Canucks willingness to move 11 are coming from unreliable sources that are just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks to draw people in.
Even if Heinola can play the right side, he still isn't really of interest to the Canucks. He's still a small d-man who to my knowledge, is more of an offensively minded guy than a defensively minded one. Vancouver has lots of offensively minded d-men, and need some defensively minded ones to compliment them. They also prefer to play their defensemen on their natural side. They did try playing both Hughes and OEL on the right side during the preseason last year, but neither of them worked out at all. The only guy they've used on his offside in my memory is Kyle Burroughs, who is a righty that plays both sides. They usually use him on the right side, but have used him on the left paired with a righty as well, but I think that's more so that they really like his play and want to keep his toughness in the lineup.

Nope Garland has no value to the jets. The trade here is fair and expecting Dillon and a mid pick is a pipe dream lol

To get Helly they should, love Krebs but where does he really fit in BUF going forward? Real question not a BUF fan I just think from the outside looking in they have the pieces in place with 2 stud C’s, 2 stud d, and some very good young wingers to make a go of it especially with a top 5 goalie.
Lmao Heinola can't even win a roster spot over Logan Stanley.... 'He's so good!'
Stanley was only on the team because he wasn't waiver exempt. Heinola was just in a spot where he could have been an full time nhler this year but was the only waiver exempt guy so he was the one to go down. That doesn't change the fact he has more value than Garland lol. Heinola can play both sides real smart dman and nhl ready. Garland is a 5m dollar 3rd liner that is a luxury type player that many teams could use but also many teams wouldn't want at that cap hit. He just isn't worth 5m to almost any team and any team Aquiring him will be disappointed as he has many years at that cap remaining. Honestly I'd rather appleton than Garland on my team if I had the choice between them as appleton has some term 1/2 the cost of Garland and has the ability to play the 3rd line but have some offensive stints.

You obviously know nothing of Garland. And will just say dumb s*** over and over. Canucks have their own equivalent of Heinola in Rathbone. They aren't NHL players and may not become one.
