Hawks won't be considering anything to do with Reilly unless he has at least a 3rd attached to him.

Columbus accepts happily. Bemstrom needs a change of scenery but could be a nice secondary scoring contributor for Boston for sure. He shows flashes of it in the NHL and lights up the AHL. I think both sides would be happy with that deal.

I really want Columbus to do this, as I've also posted in a few other ACGMs. Grz is a solid vet with one year to play the left side and help some of the younger RHDs. Bemstrom is a good fit for BOS, and the 3rd rounder is easy to part with. This is a great deal for CBJ.

No reason for Boston to attach a 3rd. Maybe a later pick like a 5th. If they buy him out its only a $333k cap hit for this season. Reilly isn't a bad d-man he just didn't have a spot in Boston last year and was redundant to Grz. No one claimed him because he had 2yrs left and teams wanted Boston to pay a heavy price to move him. Boston wasn't going to pay it, so Reilly spent the year in the AHL. Reilly is a guy a rebuilding team takes a flyer on cheap (not saying it would be CHI), gives him quality minutes and then looks to flip him at the TDL for a higher pick.

Blues have zero interest in Coyle. He doesn't fit the age range we are looking for and we don't want to spend 5.25 mil on a 3C

Look at the defense and center then tell me signing Bertuzzi with the cap space created was a smart move.

Nah, man. That contract is a no go, especially since you're not really taking any cap back.

The problem is the Hawks do not need a LHD, and definately not a bottom of the lineup one. They have Tinordi under contract, Caleb Jones is a RFA (honestly hope they some how move on from him). After that they have no less than 6 LHD prospects that all should get at the least some NHL games and 2 or 3 (Roos, Phillips & Vlassic) that should get most of the season in the NHL. Reilly is overpaid for what he is (a #6/7) and blocks spots for kids to have a chance to develop. Hawks are not taking him without a decent swetner. Even if the plan were to buy him out on behalf of the Bruins, they are not eating 333k this year and 1.333 cap next year and paying 2.66 actual dollars to buy a 5th round pick...that is more like a 3rd (and at some point the Hawks are going to be spending cash and cap space to buy 3rd cause they will have access to better picks in dumps)

seeler is an upgrade on forbort and gustafsson was very capable of top 4 mins last year. its a downgrade but the bruins will have to settle with something, whether its orlov or bert

Gus makes Krug look like an elite shut down guy. He’s terrible. Seeler is not an upgrade over Forbort. He’s just cheaper…for good reason.

That's all fine and well, which is kind of why in my post I hinted to Chicago being the right team for Reilly. For Boston it doesn't make sense to give up a 3rd and for Chicago is doesn't make sense to accept a 5th. Again the team that acquires Reilly is doing so because they could use a LHD, give Reilly decent minutes and hope they can turn a 5th into a 4th or 3rd at the TDL.

Agree with all that...the trick for Boston in a really tight cap Summer will be who is that team that can afford 3 million for a thrid pairing D and won't just sign someone off the scrap heap for league minimum or just play an AHL kid. More than half the league has very little wiggle room to sign their own guys and fill out a full roster. Hope you guys find the team where you can thread that needle of moving the cap and giving the player a chance to play in the league w/o having to attach to much to him to do it. Maybe there is a team out there with a slightly overpaid bottom 6 forward where it is more of a hockey trade?

If they can't find a deal that works, then they simply buyout Reilly. They get $2.7 million in cap space for the year and then deal with his buyout hit the following year when the cap is expected to increase around $3 million
