If he was assistant GM they wouldnt say it like this. They would say hes being hired as Assistant GM

Now maybe they got the wording wrong idk but it seems to me thats the role they brought him in to do

As he was initially hired as an assistant to GM then promoted. Now Tree did this to replace Spezza and if u think about it could be a galaxy brain move as who we need to extend Matthews. Whose his fav guy Doan...BOOM

People including myself before that big team trade were often moving Murray in a similar manner to Mrazek. Now im sure you can move him for less.

As if Pete cost a 2nd for LA to dump and this was a guy making 5mill for 2 more years and Mrazek at 3.8mill x 2 years costed 13 spots to move down and Murray at 2 years cost a 3rd + 7th and 25% retention to dump for FC

I argue Murray costs at most 3rd to move to a team like SJS with 1 year left and sure you get nothing back but I would rather have the almost 5mill in extra space than worry about a 3rd. If absolutely necessary u can throw in SDA's rights or something

TSN's Mike Johnson predicted Auston Matthews' next deal on TSN1050's OverDrive on Thursday. He thinks it will either be 3 years, $40M ($13.34M AAV) or 5 years, $67.5M ($13.5M AAV). Doesn't think 8 years will even be considered by Matthews at this point.

CBJ is a small market, so I don't know what the appetite for a buyout would be, but a Gudbransson buyout is fairly reasonable and frankly-id do it
