Roy is better by a million miles. But Walker is not tradable and Roy has value.
If LA cant afford to bring back Roy in a year they should sell high on him now. His value will never be better unless they sell at the deadline.

Thats true, but I think the kings can get a deal done that works for both sides. He clearly wants to be in LA.

I think they can get something for walker (mid round pick maybe). Still a right shot D which carries value league wide. As long as the deal moves his full cap hit Id say its a good return.

Buffalo passes. I don't see them trading the 13th overall pick for a pending UFA. Roy would be a great add to a lot of teams but I would be cautious giving that high of a pick for a UFA.
I would accept if I were ST louis. Durzi for a late first is fair in my mind.
Value is fine for that Pittsburgh trade but I don't see Pits taking on that much cap and trading their 1st.
Ardvisson for a 2nd + prospect to a team looking for a winger.
Lizotte for a 2nd to a team looking for a very cost efficient middle 6 centre/winger.

Sure they are selling here but it opens a lot of spots up for their young guys and some free agents. Their team doesn't get any worse, and they get to restock some more prospects/picks for the future. LA is in an AMAZING position for the short and long term.

Although I have no idea why the OP put Chromiak, Martin and ****emo, Samuel as 1st and 2nd line right wingers haha.

I argue the team gets worse.

Arvidsson is 4th is points and 3rd in scoring. Vilardi could potentially take his place, but Fiala and Vilardi on the 3rd line were very successful because Arvidsson could still net 26 goals while against hard competition on the second line.

Sean Durzi had 38 points and was a huge reason for the Kings success on the PP. He has a budget contract and bolsters scoring even with low minutes. Spence and Clarke are ready to take this role, but neither can play both sides nor do they have the experience Durzi has.

Lizotte has solidified the 3C and has openly beat out Kupari and Byfield to date.

If the Kings prospects want opportunities they have to beat out the competition in front of them. Byfield doesn't get the 3C, he has to prove he can take it, same with Vilardi as a top-6 center, and Clarke/Spence as the 3RD. Once they do, I'm all for selling, but that hasn't happened.

Walker is absolutely tradeable. He's worth a late 2nd or early 3rd.

Roy is a top quality defensive defenseman. However, comparable contracts suggest that's worth about $4M AAV. He shouldn't break the bank.

Durzi and Walker will both be traded. Roy isn't going anywhere. The Kings will bend over backwards to try and keep Arvidsson, but he could be moved if there's no way around it.

So, I get the idea here is to package up players into higher picks but I think the players here are more quantity rather than quality returns. Roy and Durzi obvi have some value on the market but I don’t think either is in the 1st rd territory.

The Arvidsson trade seems like a reasonable starting point for both.

Durzi puts up points but is very bad defensively. Kinda like Mackenzie Weegar in Florida. He put up points then would pass the puck in front of his own net to lose the game for his team.

Our rentals aren't going to bring those returns, and we don't want to give up Matt Roy in any event because there are better ways to address our cap pressure.

Buffalo and Pittsburgh shouldn't be trading their top-half firsts for veterans unless the vets have term.

You should make an effort to show what the forward lines would look like if you made the indicated transactions. Even with what you have here, in my opinion our personnel would be better employed Fiala - Kopitar - Kempe. Moore - Danault - Vilardi, Iafallo - Byfield - Kupari, Anderson Dolan - Turcotte - Kaliyev.

Durzi is a high-offense defenseman and would be good behind Parayko and Faulk, in my opinion. Grundstrom is a good bottom-6 LW so far who would be competing with Brown and Toropchenko.

I agree with @jnowariak that it's doubtful that you'd want to spend a first on that package. Durzi and our 2023 second would seem a more palatable offer for St. Louis.

STL is gonna have a super interesting off-season. IDK if Durzi is the kind of player they’d target either with Krug & Faulk, unless they’re able to move one of those guys. And even then, Perunovich fills that role internally.

All that said, LAK shouldn’t have a problem moving Durzi tho.

The KIngs need to move Petersen, Walker, and Grundstrom to obtain cap room. Why would the Kings obtain so many 1st round picks only to continue burying Petersen?

Their cupboards are filled with prospects and picks to facilitate moving these players without becoming a seller franchise.

I dont think that would get it done. If they trade Roy it should only be for a 1st. Just not worth trading him for anything less. I can see his value from outsiders being 2 2nds though.

They should not pay assets to move Petersen or Walker. They are not a contender and should not have given up a first for free agents in Gavrikov and Korpisalo.
They need to draft high end talent

Like it or not, the Kings committed to opening up their window by not moving on from Doughty, Quick, and Kopitar. Last year was their 2nd best year pointswise in franchise history.

The only way you are going to go back to rebuild is if Blake is fired. The window is open and Blake will do what he can to make this a 2nd round and beyond playoff team.

Last year half the league was tanking so those points mean nothing. These moves are not a rebuild. You still have Kopitar Doughty Danault Moore Iafallo Fiala Kempe and bring in Gavrikov and Jarry.
These moves are selling high on players that will not be in LA long term in order to patch the holes at goaltending and left defense.
They can patch holes, get some high end draft picks, and fill the slots of these players internally.
Capfriendly LA Kings fans are the biggest homers.
Also they did move Quick…

I'm not being a homer. I'm being realistic, Lombardi stopped selling and started buying during the window open and so did Taylor (although he didn't necessarily rebuild). People disagreeing with you doesn't mean that they are a homer do they? I meant that a big reason we opened our compete window was because Kopitar and Doughty specifically asked Blake to, which has been well noted in press articles.

Arvidsson or Durzi could definitely be traded, but I don't see Roy or Lizotte as we don't have the internal pieces to replace them.

Also by reupping Gavrikov and moving his most consistent partner in Roy is a bit confusing and placing him in a defensive role when he played more of a 2-way defenseman role.

I think we need space, but the best way to do it is by moving Petersen, we don't have to agree here, but the team you have icing has alot of rookies playing big minutes: Chromiak, ****emo, and Clarke. This just doesn't gel with how Todd has iced the team.
