The Anaheim trade is fine on value, but if Ryan Johnson and Jackson LaCombe sign with the Ducks as expected, to add to Pavel Mintyukov and Olen Zellweger, I think that we're pretty well set for NHL-close prospects on that side, so even though Joseph is ahead of them in development, he isn't really someone we need. But I wouldn't be surprised if Los Angeles had some discussions about him.

I saw value headed the other way for a cap dump and stopped reading right there. That's on me. To be honest, the Hawks could sign Stalock for cheaper than that in the off-season and keep the 7th round pick. I know it's only a 7th but the Hawks drafted Byfuglien in the 8th round years ago. There's always a chance you can find a gem late in the draft.

If Soderblom and/or Stauber are not ready to back up Mrazek next season, I could see CHI taking on another goaltender. But they won't pay for one, they'll either take on a cap dump goaltender or snag one in free agency.

Maybe slightly less effective than years past but definitely not trash - far from it. Just has an unlucky 8% shooting percentage this year that is hurting his goal total so he's been added to the list of targets by the fans. It's just another long contract for a guy on the wrong side of 30 - I assume that's the main reason people want to get rid of him too.
