CAR last game is against FLA. Obviously they wouldn't lose on purpose unless they secured first position in their division.

There’s no such thing as intentionally throwing games, the players still give their best every night, even if the roster is bad, now Toronto would probably rest some starters to make sure they don’t get injured but that’s not throwing the game, the players who play would still give their best for the win

You are absolutely correct, but both Toronto and Carolina have no motivation to win right now as it doesn't affect anything. Their heart likely won't be there while Florida is going to give it everything they got because they know if they win, they're in.

If Carolina has locked up the Metro by then (two of Hurricanes beat Senators tonight Sabres beat Devils or Hurricanes beat Wings tomorrow happen), then they have at least 3 call-ups, enough cap space, and a bad AHL team so they might call up guys like Ponomarev, Lajoie or Rees to play that game against Florida, but that's for their own purpose, resting some of their older or nicked-up players before playoffs.

I am almost certain that the people in Carolina and Toronto's front offices don't care about Montréal drafting a couple spots lower, regardless of any real or perceived rivalry.

Anyways, the "animosity" between Carolina and Montréal is kinda overblown in my view. The offer-sheet shenanigans were under Bergevin and almost 2 years ago. IMO the Hurricanes' main rivals are the Rangers and Bruins

I’d imagine some of the depth roster players that will be filling in will be playing for their careers. Usually guys who don’t have a secure NHL job will be giving it their all to give themselves a better chance of making the roster full time
